Time to end this circus: Saints have wasted 3 years of our time (merged) (7 Viewers)

Anyone wishing for Loomis to get let go is just setting themselves up for disappointment. Let it go.

He is the NFL equivalent of a college professor with Tenure Privileges.

You don’t fire a 20+ year GM that easily. He deserves and has earned the opportunity to fix his mess.

Lamar Jackson was there but oh no

One of the oddest moments in Saints draft history. Felt like a no-brainer when we traded up, even all the talking heads were going into discussions about how fun it was going to be watching Lamar under Sean Payton. 😞

We didn't need a QB. We had the next Steve Young in the building...

Payton went from Taysom is the guy to wait maybe Jameis is the guy to wait maybe Tom Brady in Miami would be fun to nevermind I'm out, in a remarkably short period of time.

He’s not going to get let go. The best hope is he steps back into the VP role and hires a new GM.

Loomis really benefited by his ability to manipulate the cap before it was really noticeable. Unfortunately, that only works for so long and eventually you run out of road to kick the can. We weren’t complaining when we were a perennially playoff team but now his method of how he manages has overtaken its ability to work.
That also works when you have a 1st ballot Hall of Fame QB who can elevate the play of 3rd, 4th, and 5th round talent at OL, WR, TE, and RB....to 1st and 2nd round talent

Payton has drafted a first round QB and developed him to currently the third favorite for offensive rookie of the year. It’s clearly been Mickey Loomis that tied his hands with selecting a QB. Loomis is all in on this FA QB/late round QB strategy. And he’s also all in on this salary cap strategy, so don’t hold your breath on “clearing the salary cap”.
The problem is Mickey Loomis and as long as he’s here, then it doesn’t matter. He needs to gets lucky and hit on an all time great QB that hides all the flaws of management.
Really need to go after a young qb

Yeah… the entire time CSP was HC, all we heard was that Loomis was a money and salary cap guy and CSP handled players and player selection (CSP alluded to that too, multiple times)

Then CSP left… and it seems the “bean counter” with no football background is now picking players! …it’s no coincidence we suck.

It HAS to change

There’s a lot of playing the results in this thread… even with the bottom finally falling out there’s still appropriate context, and a lot of bellyaching about post-Brees QB drafting. The team hasn’t quite been in position to get a guy who’d be The Guy, and this year isn’t looking like it either. Reaching for a Kenny Pickett or Matt Corral just to say they picked a guy high isn’t any better a guarantor of success than going for top-available FAs has been. Quarterback is hard to get right and now it’s the Saints’ turn on the carousel. Tried with Jameis as the understudy-turned-heir, but the health stuff made that hard. Tried to go shake it up with the best available FA and that hasn’t borne greatness either. Would I call it wasteful? No. They made an effort to keep putting a winning effort on the field and I’ll always respect that over planning to be bad on purpose. It just didn’t work. I hate it for the veteran guys who stuck around and tried to keep a winning tradition upheld. It just didn’t work. My hope is that they can get the train back on the track without having to sacrifice “lost cause” seasons that take training camp as such. But one thing that won’t happen, is I won’t be convinced that guys like Alvin Kamara, Taysom Hill, Erik McCoy, Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, and Tyrann Mathieu - all that veteran leadership and experience - wasted my time. Absolutely not.
