Loomis’s inability (1 Viewer)

My guess is that Rebelmax is talking about Parenton, who's probably a buddy of his from Thibodaux or Tulane and is also his inside source with the Saints for the past 12 years. It would make a lot of pieces of the puzzle fit.

If I guessed wrong, then of course it will be denied. If I guessed right, then of course it will be denied. So I expect a denial is coming either way.
Absolutely no Louisiana or Southern-born folk should hold positions of leadership for the Saints. Northerners or Westerners only, please.

It may seem like a given now, but there was a debate on who was better: Maye or Daniels. Some people wanted Maye on the Commanders's board. I've said it in numerous posts: I do not think Mick is going anywhere, but I will chime in if someone starts a thread about Mick. We are in bad shape right now, from top to bottom. I'm a realist, and most people on this board are not.

To me, it was a given after JD played his last college football play......there was no question to me he was the best QB coming out, at it wasn't really close.....

Just an average LSU D his last year and they likely win the NC.....

I feel like I recall scrolling this board around this time last year and there seemed to be quite a few people who said JD wasn’t going to be good in the NFL. I also recall my first thought reading it was “You probably thought Dennis Allen was going to be a good head coach too”.

I don't think that some of you guys understand Mickey Loomis's role as GM. Mickey is the General Manager think about what that says. He manages everyone in the building essentially. He's not the player personnel guy! Again he let's the coaches make those decisions. Is he responsible for their poor decisions ? I guess ultimately, but he doesn't cut anyone. He doesn't keep anyone when it comes to players. That's the coaches job! SO i really think everyone is giving Mickey a lot of grief for the wrong reasons. Is he completely perfect NO but i think he's better than most GM's in the business.........Especially when it comes to cap management. Think about it. The one main thing you can't complain about is our spending. A lot of teams don't even come close to reaching the salary cap. We are NOT CHEAP when it comes to spending. For the record i think all the players contracts are crazy!
Yes, this is true to an extent. Mickey is a numbers guy, but you better believe he presents a list of names (ahead of time), to his coaches, about who may need to be on the chopping block. ML has a plan, 2-3 years out. It may not look like it, but it is true. He leaves it up to the coaches, as to who on the list they would like to keep/cut/trade, but he does place names on the list.

I think we all can agree (or at least 99% of us) that his one mistake, which was also incredibly massive was Dennis Allen as head coach.

I mean, I’m still utterly baffled how anyone could watch him head coach the Raiders and say “Yes, I want that disaster happening here”.

Who gets cut, players traded, draft etc I suspect he leans very heavily on the head coach and others and he just makes it happen which is what a good supportive boss does. But the flip side of that is he has to constantly have good talent he’s supporting. Dennis Allen wasn’t it as head coach. To much power to the wrong talent.

Here’s my opinion. Loomis is a guy who has his coaches involved with the talent acquisition and departures. It’s been said on here before that Loomis picks the 1st round, coaching staff the next 2-3, then the scouts. But Loomis, even though he’s picking is getting the guys his staff want.

Here in lies the problem. Our coaching staff has been loaded with former Raider coaches and connections. What sort of player do the Raiders draft? The greatest guys in shorts at the combine. That way you physically outmatch your opponent. Davenport is the perfect example. He was a beast, but not a good football player. Then because of his great physical skill was kept and still worked with while your average talented, highly motivated player was let go because he was just an effort guy.

Thing is who wins you games? Sure talent and effort. But how many players is this really? Very few. Thomas, Colston, Sneed, Shockey by the time we had him, all effort guys. None were physically dominant, and none would be gotten by this past coaching staff. Would Allen have taken a Sam Mills, a Vaughn Johnson? No, but he would’ve loved some Turnbull and Mario Bates.

Whoever comes in needs to get us the lunchbox gang. Maybe not flashy in shorts, but know how to play and are going to give it 100% every down, every day.

Who are all these former Raiders staffers?

Hasn’t this forum had an off-and-on longing for Mister Raider himself, Jon Gruden?

Loomis does not really pick anyone. It's a consensus between the HC and the scouting Dept. If they can't agree the ML decides, and I'm betting that ML sides with the HC. ML is not in the war room saying " I don't care what you guys want I'm picking this guy"

Interesting.

Why was the other Loomising thread locked? Because someone compared him to Swimmer? :D Not good at reading restaurant menus?

LMAO @ Stamnos being on this list. 🤣

What upsets me is that we did not play players we drafted and/or let them go. Now, two are going to the Super Bowl with Philly: Baun and Gardner-Johnson. Really disappointing.
