Saints sign Safety Justin Reid to a 3-year, $31.5 million deal (20 Viewers)

They hate you for telling the truth.
Not really even a hot take. Literally the concensus just a week ago..:ROFLMAO:

But I know being delusionally optimistic is a built in feature/coping mechanism for most Saints fans.
So they believe in constant mediocrity. No chance of winning but at least we aren't tanking!
Interesting little sideshow with these two malcontents going on. I'll give you points for conviction to try to pass that stuff off in a thread detailing an outstanding free agent acquisition. It's kinda cute, actually.

Agree on Jeanty being in play...still need to fix this OL and add a CB though.
Experience will make those guys better and going with their strengths we picked two lineman who are supposed to excel at run blocking but we have poor run designs and slow running backs lol with wr who mainly attack overtop but coverage is sitting on it because it’s the only real threat

I think they will try to win with the front 7 with high pressure I’m banking on 6 sacks from alonte this year as an extra man down in the box they have vets on the back end at safety and kool aid will be as good as adebo if not better to me now who will be the second cb I have no idea
Won’t be surprised to see a lb in rd 2

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t trust McCoy as not missing games in 25. Age and Kubiaks scheme was super tough on him and the rest of our oline except Penning and Fuaga. (Youth). So with that said, we need a back up solid center.

Y'all said the same stuff last offseason, and the year before that, and the year before that, etc.

Just maybe we are the ones that are right about our current situation.

This contract stands out as cheap compared to the Safeties rated above (and below) him on the NFL.com Free Agent list. Stands out a lot.

(15) Holland - $15m pa
(20) Moehrig - $17m pa
(24) Reid - $10.5m pa
(40) Hufanga - $15m pa
(54) Bynum - $15m pa

Great for us but his agent may deserve a kick up the jacksy

If 31.5M for 3yrs is right, then it would be a copy/paste of his Chiefs salary from his 2022 contract. He is currently the 16th highest paid safety. I guess the safety market has really plateaued. I thought he'd get 13-15M and be out of our price range.

Do y’all miss Marcus Williams

Williams has been a disappointment in Baltimore since his 1st season there. 1 int in ‘23 and 0 ints in 2024. He had reduced snaps and was a healthy scratch for some games in 2024.

He doesn’t offer a whole lot in run defense and blitzing to justify $14m salary. Not re-signing him to top 10 safety salary at the time in 2022 was a smart move by the FO.

It’s hard to do a full rebuild when we don’t have any players that can land us huge draft picks. I’m all for a rebuild but we need solid valuable vets like Reid to help teach the young guys also.
Yeah, it's kind of like he's building a bridge team to get us to the rebuilt team, which would likely take another 2-3 years to get to regardless.

I just just asking lol I didn’t blink when they didn’t sign him I like My football players extremely physical and if they are finesse they need to be special

I'm hoping we can sign Becton and then keep Lucas Patrick in that role of a backup interior lineman. I'd feel really good about our line then. If that happens coming out of the draft with a 3rd tackle would turn our offensive line into a strong point of the team.
