This is what I’m thinking as well. Pettis is a good kick returner and shouldn’t factor in to the WR plans much, the same way Courtney Roby didn’t. Fans’ whinging elsewhere over MVS not being brought back in the comments section on the news of Pettis re-signing don’t understand that Pettis only ran routes at all last season because the WR room was so broken. No doubt, but he was hitting those same throws to Shaheed when Shaheed was healthy. Hopefully Shaheed can stay healthy this year.
I do wonder if signing Pettis was in part an attempt to keep Shaheed healthy by giving the returner duties to Pettis?
That's cheap, no?Would have liked to have him back, but I get why they might not want to pay $5.5 million for him. He did a good job for us last year, but there is always the risk that he reverts back to not being able to catch.
He's also not really what we are missing. We have deep threats in Olave and Shaheed. What we are missing is a guy that can do work over the middle and at the short to intermediate level.

Yes, I was thinking of the days of Henderson and Meachem. Nonetheless, a more physical, over-the-middle WR is more important at this stage IMHO. Not to mention any names, but a 6’5” 220 pound guy would be ideal.Well, there goes my dream of him and Shaheed both sprinting down the field at the same time for a Carr long ball
Cutting a current WR who is under contract, to then have to replace them AND absorb a dead cap hit?CWJ is doing nothing for us. We have an out in his deal were he’s only have 1 mil in deal money if we released him. We should consider that.
Wilson's best year came in Dallas in 2021, when Kellen Moore was his OC ... I think that could be an answer for why Wilson is still hereCWJ is doing nothing for us. We have an out in his deal were he’s only have 1 mil in deal money if we released him. We should consider that.
