Marquez Valdes-Scantling signs with Seahawks to 1-year deal worth up to $5.5 million (15 Viewers)

No doubt, but he was hitting those same throws to Shaheed when Shaheed was healthy. Hopefully Shaheed can stay healthy this year.

I do wonder if signing Pettis was in part an attempt to keep Shaheed healthy by giving the returner duties to Pettis?
This is what I’m thinking as well. Pettis is a good kick returner and shouldn’t factor in to the WR plans much, the same way Courtney Roby didn’t. Fans’ whinging elsewhere over MVS not being brought back in the comments section on the news of Pettis re-signing don’t understand that Pettis only ran routes at all last season because the WR room was so broken.

As for MVS himself, I’m grateful he was able to step in and do some good for the Saints. Hope things work out for him in Seattle.

Bummer. Major kudos to him. He was terrific for us - and my fantasy team.

Would have liked to have him back, but I get why they might not want to pay $5.5 million for him. He did a good job for us last year, but there is always the risk that he reverts back to not being able to catch.

He's also not really what we are missing. We have deep threats in Olave and Shaheed. What we are missing is a guy that can do work over the middle and at the short to intermediate level.
That's cheap, no?

That's cheap, no?

Ideally he's like your #4 or #5 WR and he doesn't play special teams to my knowledge. So I think that's kind of expensive for a #4 or #5 WR who doesn't play special teams. I haven't really run the numbers but I think it's like twice as much as we gave to Cedrick Wilson to be the #3 or #4 WR last year.

And I think it's too expensive when he fills a role that Shaheed and Olave already fill and he'll be 31 in October. Then you have the risk that he starts dropping the ball again.

So I would rather spend that money on a more reliable receiver that can go over the middle or another position.

Chalk one up for Kubiak. Can't feel bad for him at all. He's got marketable skills, mainly the straight-line speed. It's like being able to type and understand basic modern-day computer skills. Someone will always want to hire you.

And so I say to the team brass PLEASE SIGN BECTON so we can perhaps entertain the thought of a Tet McMillan or an Ashton Jeanty at 9. :giggle:

Was hoping that MVS would hang around. His hands really improved under Carr and they seemed to connect. He knows how to get open.

Well, there goes my dream of him and Shaheed both sprinting down the field at the same time for a Carr long ball
Yes, I was thinking of the days of Henderson and Meachem. Nonetheless, a more physical, over-the-middle WR is more important at this stage IMHO. Not to mention any names, but a 6’5” 220 pound guy would be ideal. :mwink:

CWJ is doing nothing for us. We have an out in his deal were he’s only have 1 mil in deal money if we released him. We should consider that.
Wilson's best year came in Dallas in 2021, when Kellen Moore was his OC ... I think that could be an answer for why Wilson is still here
