Still feels odd to me that we have opened up so much cap space (32 Viewers)

To me if feels like ML will never commit to a full rebuild, unless it’s mandatory to do so. This would’ve been a good opportunity, but I also feel like he most likely made some promises to KM about being competitive. A part of me is ok with a rebuild for obvious reasons to start anew, but the other part feels like we can still make some waves in this division that will welcome a new team as the champion of the division.
Why should he commit to a full rebuild? There is no data that commiting to a full rebuild has a better chance of getting yourself into contention for a SB than staying in the middle of the pack. In fact it's more likely that you pull yourself out of the middle of the pack to become SB contenders ( See Chiefs , Eagles)

Luck is more a factor that committing to a rebuild( See Bengals and Wash) or even having a good QB that another team wants to trade for (See Texans, Lions)
No team just says the " the heck with it" we ars so bad at almost every position that we;re just going to cut or trade what decent players we have for picks and cap$ and just start over. No coach would ever want to stay or even the players you want to get would want to go there.

To do something like that you would have to have a crystal ball to know which QB in the draft would be the next great one AND when they would be in the draft. Plus you'd have to know who the next great HC would be because the one you have now is obviously not THE one

I think it's best to do what we are doing. Stay within at least a striking distance of being a contender , while signing young under 30 promising FAs . Having a good , because that what Carr is , good a bit above average and could be very good with help, as your bridge QB . Then hit, not even 2017 type hit in the draft for a couple yrs. And when your TEAM is gelling with the young players you get your QB . Even if you have to trade up to get him

Lol, I literally pointed out both sides of the equation.

Caleb Williams , Trevor Lawrence and Drake Maye have all made public comments about working with their new head coach. It probably means nothing, but the radio silence seems a little odd.

The posturing on both sides has been weird going back to before Moore was hired. Carr's unsolicited comments on a pay cut, followed immediately with stories on how much the organization likes Rattler...it's just different. Again, probably meaningless.
Williams , Lawrence and Maye are firmly entrenched as the QB and starting QB with their teams. Up until just a week or so ago there was still some question if DC was even going to be with the team. Why would DC come out and make any statement? What the FO says or rumored to have said could be a ploy for many reasons , AND that the FO says does not matter it what CKM and his staff says that goes and none were hired when that rumor was started

Wait, I thought CKM made it clear in his introductory presser that Carr was his guy. Why now are we saying that there was a question whether Carr would be with the team?

No, Moore made it clear in his press conference that he thinks highly of Carr as a QB.

Why now are we saying that there was a question whether Carr would be with the team?
Moore hadn't had a chance to talk to Carr before his press conference. Even if at that time Moore, Loomis and Carr all wanted Carr to be the QB, they still had to all discuss it and work some things out before any of them could make a final decision.

We don't know when Moore, Loomis and Carr all jointly decided that Carr would be the QB.

We didn't find out about their joint decision until about a week ago, so we weren't sure until a week ago. Again, we don't know when Moore, Loomis and Carr made their joint decision.

I get an eerie feeling that Carr doesn't want to be in New Orleans anymore and doesn't care about putting in all the work it takes to be a super bowl competitor or even post-season competitor. Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Lamarr Jackson..... They'd all be in the building already working with the new head coach and on the field practicing that new playbook. Geno Smith is rumored to have already met with Pete Carroll for goodness sake.

Carr? Nowhere to be found. For all we know, locked himself in a basement playing Fortnight with all the other fruit loop adults. Maybe even on a video call with Dennis Allen watching housewives while picking their boogers and drinking Latte's. Or worse, duo in Fortnight.

We may just have our own version of Kylar Murray who can't run and certainly can't dive.
Sorry but that's just ridiculous. The FO and coaching staff are firmly entrenched with FA and CKM just got finished completing his staff. There is NO out on the field practicing the playbook LOL the NFLPA won't allow it
LOL you are citing a RUMOR to cast shade on DC, SMH.

Sometimes you post the most insane things , SMH

Moore took the job with the expectation that Carr was his QB.

CKM made it clear to me in his 1st presser that he had a lot of respect for DC as a starter in the league, and he was excited to go through the process with him. He did come short of naming DC the starting QB , which some media types said was non-commital. There were a lot of rumors , yes rumors that he could be a 6/1 cut. It was just recently that CKM came out and said DC was HIS guy. So yes there was a chance that DC could not have been with the team in 25

The Saints had zero leverage to ask Carr for or get a pay cut. It's such a non-issue. Carr was right to say it as a pre-emptive way of saying, 'hey, you gave me a contract, the crap is not my fault, don't even think of projecting leverage over me you do not have.' Also at issue at the time was the threat hanging over the Saints that if Carr could not pass a physical with his injuries, he would have been guaranteed a $30M roster bonus.

Carr was just saying that 'business is business,' and whatever money you committed to him was his, period.

Now some of you are wondering if the Saints are going to flush Carr and another $17M June 1 or later, and for what exactly in return? Nothing worth $17M, that's for sure. That's a dead money charge on the 2025 cap and does not free up any new money. They just resolved and restructured for him to stay, so pivoting away from him makes no sense.

This is far more business decision than embrace of this player, as we all likely agree he is not the future.

Everything else you read or hear is alot of useless noise, in my opinion.

The headline of Carr's restructure is that they would prefer to pay his exit bill off the 2026 cap, when it may be less painful than having done it in 2025.
And what I find ironic is all the paid actor media click bait chasers come out and say that Carr has every right not to take a pay cut, and players deserve to get their $, then they blast him for not taking a pay cut
