There's a QB in this draft who's not being discused that will be better than the guys drafted ahead of him

He didn't show it. His pocket presence was concerning for someone who supposedly has a high football IQ. Not to mention his panics displayed showed he doesn't have a high football IQ. Someone with a high football IQ would know where the ball will likely go pre-snap and adjust the reads accordingly. Many times he panicked and forced the ball to Travis Hunter who bailed him out. It's one of the things that really helped elevate Hunter over Jeanty for the heisman. I think he's just an athletic freak like his dad, and his athleticism against inferior defenses and talent made him look much better than he actually is. Big fish, small pond kind of thing. The kicker is that even against that inferior talent he struggled against BYU and Nebraska and lost those games. Mostly because both of those teams really focused on Hunter and made Sanders pay when he would force the ball in a panic.
BYU was able to confuse him with different defensive looks and blitzes. That's something he will have to work on and develop. That was not his best outing.
The rest of the QB class is going to have many of those same growing pains once they go up against NFL defenses as well. I didn't say he is perfect. I said he has the mental aspect down better than the rest of the QB class. I stick to that assessment.
We're not drafting a QB this draft anyway, I don't expect. An unimportant hill really.

You have not been paying attention to SyracuseSaint then. :D

As for my pick, I think Milroe is going to end up being better than where he is drafted. He has a lot of work to do throwing the ball, but he has a lot of talent as a runner and the arm is good. I also think he has the character and work ethic to improve once he is in the NFL. If he ends up with the right HC, OC, and QB Coach, he could end up being really good in 2 or 3 years.
I agree, he has the skill set to become a really good NFL qb, he just needs some refinement.

Just have to agree to disagree. Will Howard is much less of an athlete then Sanders, and Howard was able to mentally process and correctly diagnose confusing defensive looks very well against much better, and more talented defenses then BYU and Nebraska. As did Ewers, McCord and Gabriel.

Something to consider, on topic about the question of the thread.

These questions really don't make any sense without certain context. Example, if Ward were to go to the Rams he would be good. If Dart were to go to the Rams he would be good. But if Dart went to the Browns he likely would not succeed. If Ward went to the Browns his chances for success dwindle greatly.

So, in this scenario Dart would end up likely being much better if he went to the Rams, spent two years behind Stafford and took over then Ward going to the Browns. Same vice versa.

But if we imagined both going to the Rams, Ward I think would have the greater chance of success then Dart going to the Rams.

I like McCord a lot more than the scout sites apparently. I could see him drafted as high as the 2nd round. I think he is the best pure passer of this class.
I have not been impressed with Ewers. When watching Texas games he missed several easy throws. I personally couldn't make those throws but should have been fairly easy for him that is.

we certainly agree there on both accounts. I wouldn't want to touch Ewers at all. Howard is very unexciting also to me, but McCord would be a very interesting pickup.

One thing is certain about Brady Cook, Kellen Moore is going to know everything we need to know about him since Moore's brother, Kirby Moore, is the OC at Mizzou.
This is a cool tidbit that I hadn't seen anywhere, and didn't realize. Thanks St. Widge!

I wonder if they share similarities in scheme. Looks like Kirby Moore also coached Haener at Fresno St, so he may have opinions on what Brady Cook offers relative to a current backup already on the team.

This is relevant for prospects like Armand Membou and Luther Burden III too. I've seen both mocked to us in the 1st round numerous times throughout the cycle.

I have been told Ewers suffered an oblique injury vs Michigan early in the season. And that may have changed his throwing mechanics. But when I search online for games to watch all I find are 2024 games. Or it's the 2023 game vsBama. Like you say, I'm not interested. I'm sure teams have everything they need to fully scout though.

This guy has red flags everywhere. His dad has ballooned him big time.

Upon reading the title, McCord immediately came to mind. I'm not in favor of giving up all of the draft capital for Ward, whom I like. But a middling round pick for McCord wouldn't break my heart. And I haven't given up on Rattler on Haener.

Seems like a fairly normal class. A half dozen guys with second or third round grades. Two with 1st. What makes it kind of weak is just the calibre of the Two. Both strike me as having a similar 1st round grades as Justin Fields. Ward a bit higher than Fields and Sanders a bit lower.
