Anybody got any recommendations for good places to eat in Shreveport/Bossier City?

Check this thread out but Herby K's is good.

There is/was a Superior Grill location up there, last I knew. Supposed to be affiliated with the NOLA location (if you want TexMex).

Heard decent things about a place called the Blind Tiger, but have never been there. I think that Walk-On’s opened a location up there too if you want “chainish” food.

The Blind Tiger is great. Bella Fresca off Line Ave is good. Superior Grill is right by Bella Fresca.

Pretty sure Herby K's went out of business after a gazillion years. It is also not in an area I would recommend sending visitors.

Blind Tiger or Ernest's for South La flavors. Superior Grill or El Potrillo if you like Mexican. Superior Steakhouse or 2 John's if you want expensive Steak; the new Sonora Prime Brazilian steakhouse is not worth the money. Imperial Cathay for Chinese. Strawn's is your traditional diner with blue-plate specials and pie. The boats all have decent restaurants, but I prefer Horseshoe or Margaritaville to the others. Haven't tried the new Live casino, but it is supposed to be nice with newly redone restaurants.

A couple more that came to mind...

Orlandeaux's out on Cross Lake might be nice. It is a Creole place and the view of the lake is nice.

Franks Pizza Napoletana has good wood-fire pizza. I like it better for pizza than Flying Heart Brewery, which is also known for their pizza and their craft beers. Flying Heart is not known for prompt service though, so it is not on my recommended list.

Beaujax down on the Bossier district might be fun and it is next door to the Axe throwing place. That whole little entertainment district maybe something to check out depending on who they have playing music.

Kim's seafood in Bossier is one of those hole in the wall fried seafood places. The Kim's lost their NOLA restaurant during Katrina and moved north to Bossier. They set-up shop on the corner of Benton and Texas and the area has grown around them.

My brain will come up with more and I will let you know.

Zardnok has hit a lot of the highlights.

My sister took us to Kim’s a few years ago and now we go almost every time we’re back in Bossier. Nothing exceptional but it’s consistently good and the people have always been friendly. Great as a casual place for a quick lunch.

We went to the Frozen Pirogue once and enjoyed it. Not sure how it’s doing since then but it seemed trendy at the time.

The Blind Tiger has been one of my favorites in Shreveport for many years. I haven’t been in a long time but the impression I get is it’s still quite popular. I’m fairly certain it opened in the 80s and has survived in downtown Shreveport, through economic ups and downs, while other places have come and gone.

Online indication is it’s still open. Shame if that’s not the case. They’ve been around a very long time. I do agree it’s probably not the best recommendation for visitors.

Any opinion of Marilynn’s Place? Relatives took us there once but I don’t remember much about it. It’s another restaurant that seems to be popular within my north Louisiana circle of friends, though.

Frozen Pirogue and Beaujax are the same ownership group in the Bossier Entertainment district. Both are good, but Frozen Pirogue always seemed more expensive for what you got.

Stay away from anything named Shane's. The food is decent, but the owner is a major sphincter and not someone I wish to patronize.

Marilyn's is another nice place that I always forget because it is located in Broadmoor neighborhood and I am rarely in the area. We did the Highland Mardi Gras parade at Marilyn's this past year and it was a good time. Go Go VIP table inside with free food and booze all day.

Lil Italiano is decent for up-scale Italian, but you should call and make a reservation. Even if the place is empty, they cop an attitude and make you wait while they "prepare a table". We have gotten sick of waiting across the street at Flying Heart and walked over to Lil Italiano instead. A 10 minute wait for them to "prepare a table" in an empty restaurant is better than an hour and 10 minute wait at Flying Heart where you still maybe an hour away from a table (Ignore the empty tables. they are not real). Feel free to stand around and drink beer though. Monjunis is probably my Go-To for affordable Italian. Their sauce is a little sweet, but they have locations all around town.

I could have sworn I saw somewhere Herbey Ks was closed for good. Now I can't find anything about it, so perhaps they decided to stay open or got additional investment or whatever they needed.

Also as another aside about dining in Shreveport/Bossier area, the water sucks in Shreveport. It tastes bad and it is not healthy to drink. We have a water quality expert at work that tested the Shreveport tap water, he got a funny look on his face and told us, "Do not drink this water, it is not good water." Since the Water in Shreveport stinks, so does the iced tea or any other drink made with the crappy water. Just keep that in mind when ordering beverages.
