Jaxson Dart met with Saints before Pro Day ; Saints work out Kyle McCord & Hunter Dekker

You take the guy you want at 9,, if Dart is rising up the boards as a 1st round pick, it shouldn't matter if the Saints get a jump on him at #9 when it's a good pick, if we grab Jeanty at #9 then it's a good pick, but I believe the Saints can find a talented signal called who fits the mold of what CKM and his offensive staff believe they can with.

Agreed. Obviously it comes down to what the staff thinks of any of these players but there’s an argument to make for taking Dart “too high” vs mortgaging the future for somebody like Ward. Again, depending on how the staff feels about all of them. I’m not advocating one way or the other. I think Ward is the higher end prospect but going with Dart preserves picks in this and future drafts.

Yeah

I really really like Cam Ward a ton and could certainly live with it if they go all in but I’m truly coming around to the latter option of just taking dart at 9 if he’s truly the guy and using the other 8 picks this year to build the roster with him and develop those guys.

I’m no huge Carr fan but I wouldn’t hate Dart developing behind him for a season(or half a season given Carrs recent injury woes)

I’m pretty fine either way but I want it to be a complete buy in on all levels of the org whichever happens.

I’m not down on Carr but everything indicates the team is looking to prepare for the next chapter at QB. Understandable for a number of reasons. So yeah, probably Carr for all or part of this season and then handing the reins over to the next guy.

*If* the team has confidence in Dart, or some other prospect, that doesn’t require making a big trade to acquire, given the holes on our roster, that’s a pretty attractive option.

I'm a believer in getting the driver before the car and then choosing the type of car based on who your driver is. Doing it the other way is putting the cart before the horse to continue to strain this analogy further.
How many times have we seen a bad team select a QB high in the draft, only to see his talent destroyed behind a bad line before he can find his footing?

You're entitled to your opinion, I disagree.

That's usually just because they selected the wrong QB.

On the other hand, many times years select the right QB and it up from there. i.e. Jayden Daniels and C.J. Stroud. It can be done either way. There is no one way to build a winning team in the NFL.

With the staff we have, I think they will develop the guy they want to be a talent.

I do like Dart, but if we can get a solid guy at 40, I'm good.

The more I read about Jaxon Dart, the more I like him. As a Turkey hunter, I'm jealous he bagged a two bearded Tom. Nevertheless, he has accuracy in his throws and shooting a gun.
