Jaxson Dart met with Saints before Pro Day ; Saints work out Kyle McCord & Hunter Dekker

Kellon Moore, Scott Tolzien, and Doug Nussmeier may not be able to turn water into wine, but I believe they can maximize the potential of a talented young quarterback, whether that’s Spencer Rattler or another player they target in this year's draft.

Agreed, that's why I will support whoever they decide to go with. I'm not sure we'll make a move for Ward. He'll end up a Titan or Brown. I like the idea of drafting Jeanty at 9 and then moving back up for Dart. I listened to a nice breakdown of Dart earlier on NFL Radio and a couple things jumped out, the amount of experience he had and the fact he can win games for a team. Those two small facts, are a good indication that he's a gamer. He's not undersized either, he's 6'2" 223lbs, which is a good sturdy build.

There's other guys I wouldn't mind either like Ewers, Shough and McCord. I'm not a fan of Milroe as a QB, but as an offensive weapon, he'd be special. Imagine if Taysom converted to his Taysom role at Milroe's age, that's a queen on the chess board.

While I agree with where you’re coming from: Dart isn’t going to last past probably Pittsburgh and guys like Matt Miller are saying it’s very unlikely he’ll last past the first 32 picks:

Miller:

“In my talks with scouts this past week, the expectation is that his predraft process has been too successful for him to get past the first 32 picks.”

ESPNs Justin Reid says Dart is QB2 on some boards:

“I’ve heard he’s actually the second-best QB on some teams’ boards. That bodes well for his first-round potential.

There’s over a dozen aggregated mocks that have PIT picking Dart at 21 on Mockdraftdatabase from writers.

In short I don’t think the saints will be in position to even trade back up for dart. Best case scenario is if they trade back with like the bengals or something and take Dart at 17(Seattle at 18 also has interest)

Yeah, I've seen talk of him being QB2 in this draft. If he's our QB1 of the future taking him at 9 works and we don't have to use other assets to get him. I wonder if he's QB2 on the Browns board, if so he might not make it to us.

You take the guy you want at 9,, if Dart is rising up the boards as a 1st round pick, it shouldn't matter if the Saints get a jump on him at #9 when it's a good pick, if we grab Jeanty at #9 then it's a good pick, but I believe the Saints can find a talented signal called who fits the mold of what CKM and his offensive staff believe they can with.

Yeah, that's how I look at it as well. Whoever they get will be their guy and who we go with as QB1.

I'm a believer that you build the car before you put the driver in it.

We're more than a QB away.

But you can't choose when you draft a franchise QB. If it were that easy Cleveland would have one by now. If a great QB falls to you in the draft, you simply can't say, "pass, we're not ready yet."

You have to get the guy. Now if that guy isn’t there, we do have Carr for another year. But if one of these guys has a skill set that marries with what the coaching staff wants to do and the direction they want to go, it doesn’t make a difference if they reach for him or not.

Seems like they have met with about the same number of top picks at just about every position of interest, not just QBs

I'm a believer in getting the driver before the car and then choosing the type of car based on who your driver is. Doing it the other way is putting the cart before the horse to continue to strain this analogy further.

QBs take a few years to develop. If the right one is there you get them
I agree if the right guy is there

If say it’s Dart(just an example): He’d be in year 3 with a ton of cap space to surround him with talent in 2027.

I don’t really have a problem with taking a QB there if it’s the right guy and develop him and draft picks over the next year or two.

If they get really lucky and Moore and this staff is as I suspect it may only take a year to get this team truly competitive again with a bright future.
