Jaxson Dart met with Saints before Pro Day ; Saints work out Kyle McCord & Hunter Dekker

Now those are 3 QBs that interest me. I'm no guru, but I see the cost of Ward #1 as being too expensive for the Saints, given the current state of the roster. I see Sanders as a likely average to above average starter in the NFL, but with a cloud of drama always lurking in the background, waiting to rear it's head. I see Ewers in a similar vein, but without the likely drama. Of those 3, I would prefer Ward. But not at the expense of the remaining roster development.

I actually like Dart and McCord. Slightly lesser prospects, but much less of opportunity cost to pull the trigger. Never heard of this Dekker dude, but honestly impressed that the current regime turned over that stone. I also keep hearing the name Tyler Shough on this forum, but haven't heard anything from the Saints about that name. This may indeed be a weak class for QB, but statistically speaking, at least one of these guys is likely to be a solid starter for years to come. Saints just gotta figure out which one of those guys IS that dude. I LOVE the due diligence here. Seems pretty obvious the Saints are wanting to draft a QB. Even if it's one I don't care for, I'll have to admit they did their homework and likely selected the best prospect. The cost of that prospect might be debated as to whether it was worth it, but I'll be comfortable they chose the best one! JMO!

Shough is the dude that ran the 40 by himself back to back and was super hyped for his times.

People are going to butcher is name b/c it's pronounced Shuck, not like cough or show.

I don't like the idea of drafting a qb in this class and we need to re-built our roster .
We have too many old or injury prone players on our roster. We're not a QB away from contention / super bowl.

You don't draft for this year. You draft to build your team long term. So, if the team think there is a QB in this draft who can be a franchise QB or even a very good long term starter, then you draft him and build around him. If not, you build the team for when you find that QB. But a team should never pass on a QB they think is a franchise QB or long term very good starter because you never know when you are going to get that opportunity again. The Saints haven't picked in the top 8 since 2008 and haven't drafted a QB in the 1st or 2nd round since 1981. It's about time they start drafting higher quality QB prospects. If not in the first, then in the second. And if not this year, definitely next year.

Maybe that means moving up for Ward. Maybe that means Sanders at #9 or moving up into the late 1st for Sanders or Dart. Maybe that means Dart, McCord, or Shough in the 2nd or 3rd. But at some point you have to start drafting good QB prospects until you find your long term QB. And, frankly, it's long past due and they should have done it in the last couple years that Brees was here.

Tyler Shough in the middle rounds wouldn't disappoint me one bit. Matter of fact, none of the ones most likely to be there in rounds 3 or 4 would disappoint me at all. The wording I saw lately about this year's QB field is "light on top." Fully agreed. The dynamic with Daddy Nuss Bus being on staff when Little Nuss Bus comes out next year is still intriguing to me. Imagine all the stories we'll read!

It would be so great if we drafted Campbell, Mayson Taylor and Lacy in this draft. Can you imagine the melt down's from non-LSU fans? I would be up late every night next off-season with 3 big bowls of popcorn and army of giggles ready to go.

As much as we pillory Loomis for trading up so often in the FIRST round, doing so in the second round for Taylor would be fine by me. Trench player in the first followed by Taylor in the second would be nice.

Clearly I'm not a scout, but with all these names floating around, my top choice would be Dart. He had great competition in the SEC and I think he maybe has the traits to develop into an above average starter. Could be something with talent around him ... again, maybe. If I had one wish, then it would be to don't trade up to no 1 this year. Please don't

I like him a lot too. He played with a struggling offense, oline and mostly could only rely on Tre Harris. Yet he put the offense on his arm/legs every week. Super competitive and supposedly high football IQ. The play calling for Ole Miss was even worse then LSU's too and it felt like Dart was hindered by it but tried to make it work.

I do think he'll have to sit for bare minimum a year, but two would probably be better for him.

That's not the point. If you like someone, this year, go for it. No one will dispute that our whole roster needs work, but if you want someone, why wait? Carr is going to be here this season, so there is no rush. Eventually, Moore is going to want his guy
