Like most of you I hope that Deuce will be back and in good health so the next few days are very important. I do have a little inside information but I want to be careful with what I say as to not get anyone in trouble. A business associate of Deuce's in Jackson (where I work) is a client of mine and told me what I had heard before through specuation and rumor, and that was that Deuce wants to play one to two more years with the Saints and he's done. He feels he will be ready to go this season and can really contribute. Again, this isn't my guess work this is from a personal friend and business partner so lets all hope he's right.

Worker's comp just like any job. If they cut him, he probably gets an injury settlement.

Whatever you say, but Reggie will never be the bruiser that Deuce was (and maybe still is!).

You are not allowed to release an injured player per the NFLPA without giving him some kind of injury settlement, and in this case it would be more than a million bucks because Deuce's total package this year is more than 3 million. This is similar to the Shaun Alexander situation. If we wanted to pay him the million and then cut him after June 1, we could do that. We really have nothing to lose by just seeing what Deuce can do. We aren't going to go out and spend the money on someone else (hell, we still have a boatload of money left, enough to re-sign anyone we want to extensions). Deuce deserves a chance to see if he can come back. Terry Allen had two knee surgeries and then came back and rushed for 1,000 yds for 2 or 3 more years. If he can do it, so can Deuce.

In 2005 he got around $50 Million/8 years... Now thats not too bad, but with the money we are paying Bush and Brees, that's around $26/Year for two positions. That a lot of money for a team that couldn't stop the pass for the life of them.
