Oh, it was poorly executed, but the theory was sound.Nope - the 3rd player was SPYING the QB. How DUMB was that!!!
The QB was NEVER going to run it!
(And the other two "rushing the QB" were never really trying to reach the QB!)
And...
The WR who caught the ball was in the slot and he did a "crossing route" (can't think of the proper name) with the WR to his left at about the 5 yard line.
THREE Auburn defenders followed the WR cutting inwards, leaving ONE DB within TEN YARDS of the WR who caught the ball.
Mind you there were already THREE defenders in the middle of the endzone, thus no need for the defenders to follow the WR cutting inward!
(And we thought the LSU DBs had a lot to be desired!)
Auburn coaches should have been fired on the spot for that IDIOTIC scheme.
The third guy, the DT, was doing the same thing the other two were doing.
