Looks like the OL will be

Hawkins
Pocic
Clapp
Boutte
Alexander

LT - Hawkins/Domond
LG - Pocic/Austin
C - Clapp/Pocic/Dodd
RG - Boutte/Brumfield
RT - Alexander/Malone

The bolded stand out with their play. Brumfield will continue to push for a guard spot. Malone will see playing time at tackle and guard. If Clapp can't go, Pocic will slide back over to center and it will be Brumfield at guard with Boutte. Dodd isn't quite there yet. Domond and Austin are quality reserves.

104.9 out of Baton Rouge reports that Pocic will be the center....which is why I asked. It is really good news that those young guys appear ready to step in and start. The line should be a strength again this year......if we could only find a QB. :covri:

From what I got to see of the spring game today, neither QB pulled away from the other. Maquedius Bain had a good game at end, can't wait to see him in real game action.

I was curious why they shifted Bain from DT to DE. He's an animal and too good to keep off the field. Of course, so are LaCouture and Godchaux. Bower is going to be a handful as well. If they ever get Valentine on the straight and narrow and Gilmore plays to his billing, DLU will rise again.

I was happy to see some success throwing the ball, but I hear they did it versus the backup secondary. Can anyone verify this? I think the game is up for replay on ESPN3 but I'm out of pocket at the moment.

It was definitely against the backup backup secondary. :hihi: Receivers were running wide open on numerous plays. Though the freshman Toliver had a nice sideline interception on a deep-ish throw from Brandon Harris.

SEC Network is showing replays. Yeah the 2nd team defense looked terrible. Russell Gage in particular. Both QB's played well with the 1st team but were running for their lives when on 2nd. WR's looked good. Dupree is gonna be a stud.

Ohio State won a national championship last year because its coaching staff was able to prepare three different quarterbacks to play at a high level.

Jennings has for the most part reached his ceiling. Harris has not. LSU's overall talent is good enough to win eight games--the four games that LSU should win by four touchdowns or more, and half the SEC games--even with mediocre quarterback play. But to win the SEC West, LSU will need a quarterback who can make plays, and Jennings is not that quarterback. LSU can settle for a repeat of 2014 with Jennings, or it can aspire to something higher than above average with Harris, who clearly has more talent. That there is a question about which quarterback to play is proof of Miles's obstinacy and the inability of a coaching staff to properly develop quarterbacks.

Questions: Which quarterback would Urban Meyer be playing? And how much greater would LSU's chances of winning the SEC be were Meyer the coach instead of Miles?

While I'm generally in Miles' corner, I think its time to start giving him some "shade" in regards to the QB position. Other than Mettenberger (who fell in his lap after off-the-field issues), Miles has failed to recruit and develop one really good QB. With all of the talent surrounding the QB at LSU over the years, that seems like it would be difficult to accomplish!!!

I agree with RJ that Jennings is not the answer....at least not to be a real force in the SEC West. Harris is our only real hope......but why hasn't he overtaken the QB spot? If he is struggling to beat out Jennings, maybe Harris is just average too. Or maybe, just maybe, Miles and his staff are the "poison pill" to any and all QBs! Bradshaw, while a little to raw, hit the nail on the head.

LSU should have sick skill talent on offense in 2015. Enough to beat any team in the country....but you have to get the ball to those players. I don't think we have the QB to do it. Jennings or Harris. Maybe its too son to hit the panic button, but I'm just giving you my gut feeling on it. The QB position will stink. AGAIN. :covri:

Why isn't LSU recruiting pro style QBs? I could very easily be wrong, but I don't think of Cam Cameron when I think of dual threat quarterbacks. If you don't run your dual threat QB then you just have a mediocre QB throwing passes.

Jennings and Hayden Rettig weren't Cameron recruits, he was hired after national signing day in 2013, he had no say in either of their recruitments.

Harris was the first Cameron recruit at QB. He is very high on Harris as a QB prospect. Harris is a dual threat but he has the arm strength to make any throw and Cameron believes he can teach him how to operate his offense.

Justin McMillan is mobile but he is more of a pocket passer than a true dual threat.

Feleipe Franks is also mobile but is more of a pocket passer than a true dual threat.

2017 Louisiana quarterback prospect Lowell Narcisse is most certainly a dynamic athlete and every bit the dual threat QB he is listed as. Explosive runner and a nice arm, he likes LSU and Auburn.

2018 LSU has a commitment from Zadock Dinkelmann who is a true pocket passer.

Les definitely prefers having a QB who has escape ability but I don't think there is really a preference, they just want the best QB's they can get.

Mettenberger was certainly no dual threat, Jarrett Lee was no dual threat. Gunner Kiel? Zach Lee? LSU just wants QB's period.

Mettenburger worked out great because he was a pro style QB, obviously. So Harris is the only dual threat QB to come in since Cameron was hired? Guess I was mistaken.

They prefer mobile QBs. None of them are guys who will make a lot of plays with their feet like Can Newton or Vince Young. They're all pass-first guys who need developing. Like the other 115 NCAA teams, LSU has yet to luck into the next Johnny Manziel or Jamieos Winston.
