Speaking of getting the ball: Messi won the Pichichi a record 8 times with Barcelona, between 2009 and 2021. There was one year, the 2015-2016 season, in which another player from Barcelona who won it, Luis Suarez. Why? Because Messi was getting the ball to Suarez.

Bottom line, if I have a choice to pick Messi or Mbappe for my team, I am picking Messi.

Admittedly, I have not watched full games, but I get the impression that Messi is dogging it a bit, yet he's still the best player on the field.

I don't know what Mbappé's 40 time at the combine was , but man he's fast; when he runs with the ball, he doesn't keep the ball tight, he kicks the ball far, then beats the defender to the ball. He reminds me a lot of Ronaldo (Brazil); not as strong, but more fluid. MLS getting a 24 year old Mbappé in his prime? Better get your cardio on, MLS.

Getting Mbappe would be a huge acquisition for MLS. It would help expand the popularity o SB soccer in the US and could start a pipeline of talented players from around the world to come play in the MLS

its a gd ploy i tell ya and i hate him for it. ( not really its brilliant )

He lulls defenders into a false sense...he aint running, darting and making defender FOCUS on him. He is actually taking their focus down a notch. And yes your son is right...watch what happens. Defenders cannot "switch on" as fast as he can move with the ball.

I think some of it is him resting to hit that burst, but i think he has figured out how to get defenders to drop a level down on focus and hit em when they arent ready. He is a bonafide grand master in soccer.
