2023 offseason: WR Tet McMillan said its hard for him to watch film and doesn’t watch film by himself

So I chased down the video and what I got from it is a lot less concerning. This was after his freshman season where he was still very young and has yet to fully mature. I'm sure a lot has changed since.

It's really a nothing burger.

LOL another example of people overreacting without context. A vido taken after his Fr yr. The kid was 19 yrs old and you all are just dissing him. SMH

Ok, so he said this as a freshman. I think a lot of people are thinking this is a brand new interview or something.

And he's talking to a classmate in the video. It isn't even an interview. 🤦‍♂️

Goodness, people..

It totally isn't fair to the kid that we are even talking about this. It's ridiculous
It’s freshman season but it’s barely 2 years ago. The approach towards the football classroom doesn’t always instantly change that fast. College schemes are simplified for star skill players to steamroll through the college level without studying the game especially featured players. Pro level is a different ballgame. Hopefully his mindset towards film has matured since ‘23.

It may not be alarming to fans if they’re in love with his physical traits and want him on their team no matter what. His statements would be questionable to an NFL FO who have their season and jobs on the line off of determining if they want to invest a very high 1st round pick into him.

I recall Marcus Davenport saying something similar that he doesn’t really like football that much.

I can’t imagine the reception if one of the top QB prospects made the same statements as Tet in any setting
I'd be cool with him at 9. There's a few players I'd like to draft there a little more, but not all that many. I really don't have a favorite. I'm more for trading back if we can find a dancing partner.

For PR reasons, most players will say they "love the game". A local aquaintence of mine that played in the league (13 years, for 6 teams, in 160+ games) told me two truths about NFL players.
Almost every one in the league uses THC, at least during the offseason. And that not many players like the sport and very few love it. Understandable... How many of us love our job? $$$

As for my opinion on Tet, if it's true that this unofficial video clip was from his freshman season where he was a talented "rookie" but not the star WR, then that tweet and this whole
thread is pointless. Nothing but a smear-piece.

Woe to be even slightly famous for even a short time in the age of the internet/social media.

I would be more concerned if this was getting talked about more than just on here.

Well I would not worry about it to much as when he going through combine & all these interviews & meeting with teams all throughout the draft process leading up to the draft, all these team coaching personnel and scouts have been putting up film and asking all kinds of technical football questions to these draft prospects to see how much knowledge these players have and they will know quick if a player has something missing between their ears by the time the process has concluded & it draft day.

I would like to add that honestly, it would really surprise me if there were many wr's who were film buffs. 😂😂

I don't know how you get "struggles to watch film" from "I watch film with the rest of the WRs", but whatever floats your boat.
Agree. I don't like to watch football or film and I watch film with the group is not the same as saying, I don't watch film and I'm not good at watching film.

He also seemed annoyed and disinterested. It seems to me he was being curt and sarcastic, because he wanted to eat in peace.
So you’re saying everything he said he made up?

Let’s say you’re 100% correct and he was just annoyed and being sarcastic, which I don’t believe but for the sake of the argument let’s go with that. Then he’s not very bright saying that in public when he’s about to get drafted and knowing how everything said/done is dissected by NFL teams.

My guess is that was more geared towards the “I don’t ever need to watch it by myself”.

Here is a nice discussion on him. They mention the video around the 9.50 mark. Both seemed unconcerned. Check it out:

I've heard the same thing from a few former players I've had the opportunity to have an extended conversation with, including one with a ring.
