A 49ers loss allows the Saints to "essentially" control their own destiny for the playoffs (3 Viewers)

Again, the tiebreakers favor us because head to head doesn't matter.
Not exactly. In 3 or 4 team ties, there is a different head to head. And in this case that head to head doesn't apply because no team in the group either beat all the others, or lost to all the others.

But I get that you are saying that the specific head to head with Philly doesn't apply once more than the two teams are involved.

49ers are sitting on the 6th seed right now. We have the tiebreaker over them. If we finish 9-8 and they finish 9-8, we're in and they're out.

none of that is accurate
Well of course it is.

Assume ...

Cardinals or Rams claim Wild-Card # 1 .
Saints win out.

Saints : 10 - 7 -> Wild-Card # 2 or 3
Niners : 10 - 7 -> Wild-Card # 2 or 3
Eagles : 9 - 8 -> Miss playoffs by losing 1 game.

If the Niners are the team that loses at least one game and the Eagles win out, then the Niners finish 9 - 8 and miss the playoffs.

If Cardinals, Niners, Eagles and Saints all finish 10 - 7, the Cardinals miss the playoffs based on having the worst conference record.

We can't win a tiebreaker with Philly and neither can the 49ers. I'm assuming everyone finishes at least 9-8. We could lose this one on Monday, but we really need the two against Car and Atl.

Not really the Saints are in good shape. In a 3-way tie with the Eagles and Niners, the Niners are the odd team out.
If Philly wins out,and the Niners and Saints finish 9-8,we are in and the Niners are out. We control our destiny. If
we win out we're in. Dallas and the Rams did us a big favor this weekend.

I've been running the playoff machine and I can't find a scenario where the Saints are out if they won out. Is that right? 9-8 would depend on a couple of things but the odds aren't too bad. If they lose this week and win last 2.

If we win out yes. The Eagles and Niners can only match the 10-7 record and the Niners would be the team out. If
the Eagles or Niners drop one we'd stll be in due to a better overall record.

Something else I found interesting. If the Cards lose out and the Eagles drop one and 9ers win out, the Saints would get the 5 seed if they win out. So 5th seed is actually possible, haha.

That's a real possibility with the way the Cardinals have been playing this month.

Interesting in this scenario that the West would have 3 teams in. Also, I think the 9ers match up well with the Packers. And Dallas would be the 1 seed, lol.

That’s what I’ve surmised as well.
Me, too.
Here's a question, though -

In a 3-way tie scenario, if 1 of the 3 has the best conference record, and the remaining 2 have the same conference record, does the team with the best conference record advance, and the other 2 teams revert to a 2-way tiebreaker?
Or do all 3 teams go to the next step in the tiebreaker?
