A little annoyed by Vilma (1 Viewer)

i didn't mind Vilma except for the 'big boy football' shtick....he must have said it 50 times
Yeah we were mocking that phrase after the umpteenth time. I attributed it to being a novelty of Patterson's resurgence. Loved the final shot of the smug look on his face after the FG block lol.

Ultimately I think these guys need some training before they become announcers. I mean even look at Sean Payton when he was on the show yesterday he just seemed stiff and uncomfortable and unnatural. I hate when they put players in a booth just because they have a name and a desire to be an announcer. There is talent to being an announcer and being entertaining.

Is it just me, or did he kind of sound like a Falcon fan most of the game? I understand the need to impartial, but geez....
It's not just you. I haven't really cared for him as a commentator.

I'm not looking for him to be cheering us on or anything but get things right. He does seem to favor whoever we play than giving us props when we deserve it.

There was also one point in that game he must have called Dennis Allen Sean Payton 3 times in a row. Might have been late when talking about timeouts.

Man I couldn’t agree more. It’s unfair to the person and to the profession to not provide adequate training prior to the start of a live broadcast. This goes for any profession, in my opinion, even though training while working can be acceptable based on the position.
But television, radio - really any type of gig that involves communicating to the masses - the people performing the work need to be well trained and prepared.

most of the game the Falcons were kicking the Saints arse, so yeh, he's going to state that as its happening
For real. Outside of a few plays on either side of the ball the Saints didn't play particularly well for the first 3 and 1/3 quarters of football. We didn't give him much to be positive about regarding our team. Having said that, it's pretty typical for commentators to seem biased against their former teams, a lot of them go out of their way to seem impartial and so it looks slanted the other way. In studio shows you're allowed, even expected depending on the show, to favor the team(s) you have ties to too but it's not that way in live commentary.

If you didn't understand why he was saying the things he was saying when he said them, it's going to be hard to get you to understand now.

I didn't find anything wrong. Atlanta pretty much dominated the Saints. Really can't sugar coat the Saints' performance, it was pathetic.

Yeah but did you see that GROWN MAN?!?
We were about to start a drinking game, that every time Vilma refers to Patterson as "grown man", we would take a drink. But we realized we would probably pass out before end of the game so we deferred to making fun of him.

I could feel the pain in his voice as he was basically forced to only compliment the Falcons for 3 quarters. The Saints weren’t doing much of anything to praise.

That's funny, I told a friend of mine to take a shot every time he said that.
