A.T. Perry waived (Unclaimed off waivers); Perry signs to the Broncos practice squad (2 Viewers)

He never had dropped passes in games that’s all that really matters. It must be something else other than dropped passes in practice.

Meanwhile Cedrick Wilson hasn’t even recorded a stat in games he’s played so far but yet he’s still on the team.
💯 this. It’s something else.

It’s a waive so they may attempt to bring him back but here’s a thought.

He doesn’t play physically like an X
He’s not going to overtake Shaheed or Olave as a Z and he doesn’t work the slot.

He seems to fit Payton’s scheme more than this one, and that’s ok. They have their developmental X in Bub Means on the roster already.

I’m ok w/ it.

I completely missed those string of "good games"
Agree. Dude had 1 decent game. The last game of the season. They were nice plays, had 3 catches for 53 yards 2 touchdowns.

Beyond that dude had 1 or 2 catches a game.

He only had 12 career receptions. 3 came in one game, how many "good games" could dude have really had?

I haven't gone back to look at all his plays so I could be off base here, but it seemed to me he was the kind of guy that was good when the play broke down or if he was just running a fly or post, but wasn't much of a route runner and didn't really like to do the dirty work like blocking. He was also decent at contested catches but mostly just due to being 6' 5" and not because he's physical. Big play, contested catches, and broken play ability are good things to have, but we have a couple big play guys right now so to get on the field you have to be a good blocker and/or a guy who can run good routes. Perry just didn't seem ready for that yet.

I think and hope he will be back on the practice squad because I think he has potential. But he's also a strange fit because he's a 6' 5" guy but he's kind of skinny and doesn't really play like a physical receiver. He just got caught in a numbers game. With all the injuries we have, particularly on the OL, we needed more spots on the 53 man roster and he got pushed out by that. Doesn't mean he's a bad player, just means he was at the bottom of the roster as a guy that they want to develop. I think that development will continue on the practice squad.

I just found out about it and I've held off on my criticism of the team since the hot start, but this move is dumb.

I've heard some people say "practice", but these are the same people that said Jake Delhomme wasn't a good practice player either. Bad move.

Also speaks to how much they like Tipton and hat’s off to them for finding an UDFA gem again it seems.

Who are the same people who said Jake Delhomme wasn't a good practice player?
