Unverified According to podcaster Timothy J Jones: Aaron Glenn wanted Mickey Loomis removed from GM position in order to take Saints job [mod edit] (104 Viewers)

Nader did something similar a few years back. Had developed good connections, landed himself on the radio in NO, etc. Then boom, his ego gets the best of him, he drops some questionable inside info publically and the house of cards tumbled.

He never recovered

Also people digging up his racist tweets didn't help.

Those past tweets got Nader cooked.

The only type of HC candidate who could make that kind of demand is one with sustained success at a prior job. Someone like Belichek, Payton or Parcells. I'm not even sure a pre-Kansas City Andy Reid would make that kind of demand.

I just listened to the podcast. TJ never said that Aaron Glenn wanted Loomis fired. He said he asked if Loomis was willing to take a step back and let him work with a new guy that they could both agree upon (presumably the guy everyone is talking about).

Why is this so unbelievable? They asked Glenn to interview, not the other way around. He's a hot candidate around the league and he may never have this much leverage again. I'm not a football coach, but I am a Senior Executive, and I can tell you that these kinds of discussions occur when you're talking about someone becoming essentially your CEO.

Ask yourself the question, if the Jets do let him have input on a new GM, and that was his top priority, was he wrong to ask for it? The only part of the story that I really think is shaky was that the Saints were his top choice. Maybe 1a, but clear number 1? Naaah. I think they were his number 1 choice if they would have given him that type of control. They said no. End of story.

Right. There is zero chance Glenn asked Loomis directly to resign or move to a different position as a condition of taking the job as opposed to communicating through other channels. Including, you know, the actual owner of the team.

Could be total BS but not because he would have to only go through Loomis to communicate what he wanted.

If the report is true, I am sure it is being mischaracterized to a degree. Perhaps Glenn asked if his guy could come in and be in charge of all things personnel. Not necessarily giving Loomis the boot, just redirecting his focus.

Maybe Parenton and Ireland were the guys ultimately he wanted replaced, or at least superseded in the decision-making process.

Who knows what actually went down.

I honestly regret posting this as I didn’t realize at the moment that he was just a local podcaster.

I don’t even care if this is true. If it keeps it at the top of message boards and a talking point in the media, then I’m all for it.

It’s SHOCKING how fast Loomis returned us to the cellar post Payton.

Yes because teams that lose a HOF coach and/or HOF QB typically always recover quickly, right?

Is Hold The Mayo or Jono Barnes reporting their inside information yet?

  • Good organizations don't spiral completely to the bottom of the league just because of turnover (Pitt, GB, Sea, Phi)
  • Good organizations at least have a plan for replacing a HOF coach and QB.
  • Good organizations strategically build themselves back to relevancy.

  • The Saints have spiraled to the bottom, getting worse every year.
  • The Saints did nothing to replace the QB or Coach until year 2 (went with people already in the building), and since then have not done much else to improve those positions.
  • The Saints have only just started to show small signs of treating this as a rebuild, 3 years in, and are in the worst cap shape league wide, and struggling to get interest in an open coaching position.

Why are people acting like our injury situation was no big deal or didn’t play any role whatsoever in this?

We were at worst excruciatingly average prior to this past super-injury riddled season.

Teams that lose starters at the positions we lost them at generally all struggle.

Your excuses have been noted. Mickey Loomis thanks you.

and struggling to get interest in an open coaching position.
Eight external candidate initial interviews and two scheduled in-person interviews the week a frickin’ blanket of snow dropped on a Cfa climate city says what

Half this fanbase wants Joe Brady and his team is still in the playoffs, necessitating a delay

“Struggle” must have a second definition that directly conflicts with the first
