she makes me want to try D&D
There was an interview with someone with some sci fi cred, not a major player, back in the mid 90s so it's probably exponentially more true today now that nerd culture has gone mainstream
I don't remember who it was but I still remember the quote
Basically this:
"There is no love like geek love. If you are a panelist at any of these events you are getting laid as much as any athlete or rock star. And you may have an idea of what these nerd girls are like. You are wrong. There are a ton of drop dead gorgeous women who are into this nerd shirt"
The "contacts and makeup" trope exists for a reason.
Too many smart, gorgeous girls go out of their way to be invisible.
A sci/fi con is where that gets reversed. And it's glorious.
Now he needs to keep that same energy for the male convention attendees.
I tried a couple times in grade school and a couple more times in high schoolHell yeah! I enjoyed D&D back in the day. It was pretty fun.
Why not? I'm sure that happens too
But like sports and music I expect it doesn't happen nearly as often the other way around
Who's to say that at a con Gillian Anderson, Sigourney Weaver or Marina Siritis didn't get really horny and hook up with a love and starstruck 20 year old?
It almost happened with me and Marina...Who's to say that at a con Gillian Anderson, Sigourney Weaver or Marina Siritis didn't get really horny and hook up with a love and starstruck 20 year old?
i like it, yet i also found it really boring. i don't know how i really feel about it.I tried a couple times in grade school and a couple more times in high school
I never got D & D and just couldn't get into it

totally agree. dm will make or break a game. The key is whether your DM is worth a crap or not. There's lots of bad DMs running boring games out there.
I'm not saying convention hanky panky happens anywhere near as much as for the male actors but I'd be stunned if it's never happenedI'm saying that. That is not happening.
I remember being bored and confused both trying to watch and participateThe key is whether your DM is worth a crap or not. There's lots of bad DMs running boring games out there.
dude would have to have +10 charisma AND roll a natural 20Who's to say that at a con Gillian Anderson, Sigourney Weaver or Marina Siritis didn't get really horny and hook up with a love and starstruck 20 year old?
I go to at least 5 or so each year (prepping for New York now).I'm not saying convention hanky panky happens anywhere near as much as for the male actors but I'd be stunned if it's never happened
Doesn't @GrandAdmiral go to a lot of cons?
I'd be interested to hear his opinion

"Hanky panky" has happened in the past, but since the days of #MeToo and increased attendance due to popularity of the various genres, that's been virtually eliminated. I would imagine it's still possible at the extremely large events like SDCC where they hold events off-site during the event, but yeah, no. Marina isn't inviting me to any empty room for fun. She'd do better just inviting me to her hotel room.
(On another note, Marina Sirtis looks so much better with age today than as Donna Troi on ST: TNG).
