Adam Schefter: I expect the Saints to have some level of interest in Mike Vrabel [mod edit] (8 Viewers)

Yeah, I'm a firm no on Glenn. Vrabel I'm not sold on. He checks some boxes but I'm not sure he's a fit for what I'd like to see.

My preferences are no retreads, and with rare exceptions, no defensive type head coach. I want an Xs and Os young up and coming offensive coordinator with 5+ years experience coaching in the NFL. That narrows the field considerably.
if we had most of the pieces id be ok with an OC with no experience ( It did work out for Sean, but that was rare) or an old coach wanting to guide a prebuilt team quickly to contention. (Belichick for ex) But that's not our situation, we need a guy that can literally overhaul the entire team including the medical staff and see us through slim years while we reset the cap. So the guy will have to be proven, in order to sign him to a 5 plus year contract right off the bat.

Vrabel is the guy we need to go all in on. He's a culture builder. We will go from a soft team that gets bullied into the Bully. The team identity will be physicality on offense and defense with a punishing rushing attack with physical WRs and a 3-4 defense to capitalize on the current young talent while a 3-4 is also an easier defense to find talent for.

We don't know what Joe Brady would do as an HC or Ben Johnson, but we know what Vrabel will bring. It's cool not to like ML right now, but Vrabel would have a steady FO, and if ML hands the personnel decisions over to Vrabel, he has a good eye for talent, so that would work.

Vrabel coached Taylor Lewan and he got the most out of him. He'd have a good insight on how to deal with Penning and get the most out of him as well.

He played Defense and saw some time at Offense, so he knows both sides of the ball.

If we hire him, look at potential Titans players or other players who played under Vrabel to help install his team culture.
Vrabel is the guy I want, the guy I feel like the Saints should roll out the red carpet for.

Lol. I bet Loomis is gonna take his two week post season vacation before he interviews candidates.

I have a hard time seeing Vrabel choosing the Jets. It's one of the most dysfunctional organizations in all of sports. And the root of the problem is Woody Johnson.
