Ahsoka Live Action Series (Disney+) (1 Viewer)

Why do you do this?
it's our thing:love:

How can you say that I cannot compare Ahsoka with Mandalorian and Andor? They are in the exact same Star Wars universe, and all are produced by Lucasfilm.
i said you 'shouldn't' compare Ahsoka and Mando to the Andor - obviously you can compare Ahsoka to Mando

You were a dancer, right? You were on stage, right?. So you know about production values: lighting, sound, costumes, stage decoration, color palettes, choreography, etc...; in the case of movies/tv, there's camera work, continuity, CGI/special effects, etc... you can certainly compare how those elements are used and the quality of those elements in any production.
comparing Alvin Ailey at City Center or ABT at the Met vs Tere O'Connor at Dance Theatre Workshop or even Chen & Dancers at St Marks
all modern dance, all highly trained dancers with seasoned choreographers, all under fairly strong technical capabilities (# of lighting instruments would vary significantly - but mostly bc they have to cover fairly different sized stages)
audience size would also vary significantly
you could only compare these on the most basic levels

(missed this yesterday)
bc they're not trying to emulate each other - it'd be like comparing Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead bc they're both on AMC
No, I think it's more like comparing BB with Better Call Saul.

Or maybe All in the Family with The Jeffersons.

loved it
quite the trolley experiment for Sabine there
does anyone else get the sense that Ahsoka kinda nudged her to making that decision - or at least there's no way Ahsoka can be surprised she made the choice she did after Ahsoka basically said 'yeah i'm ready to sacrifice Ezra if it means keeping Thrawn away'

and was it just storytelling shorthand or was the something deeper going on
basically Shin and with/voodoo inquisitor were sent to delay Ahsoka/Sabine - Shin running away was bad tactics - had Sabine stayed, they would have dispatched Marrok in seconds making the path to the Henge much quicker
but they didn't play Sabine running after Shin (after Huyang's warning not to) as "there goes Sabine again!!'
Ahsoka seemed to think it was an ok strategy
??
"Promise me that you stay together"
"Ok we promise"
***Sabine has exited the fight scene

Awesome episode!
Some of the best lightsaber duels Star Wars has produced.
Baylan is a very interesting character. Pragmatic, even keeled, and almost "resigned to it all" in his manner. His quest to bring Thrawn seems like it comes from a place of something that has to be done even though he finds it distasteful. I hope we get further insight how he came to the place where he is rather than just have him die off without finding out about him.
I like how they wrote Sabine relying on her Mandalorian skills to keep Shin at bay rather than suddenly becoming Jedi-skilled enough to beat her.
World within worlds! Awesome to be back there. I wonder if that's how Ahsoka will be able to "follow" them to the distant galaxy.
I wonder (hope) if they had Hayden Christiansen watch all of Clone Wars to get straight on what his relationship with Ahsoka should be. Also hoping he's a better actor now... 🤞
Hayden said in an interview that he sat down and watched Clone Wars and Rebels prior to filming Obi-Wan.

Pretty sure they just retconned the sequel trilogy in this episode. The world between worlds was always a way to retconn things in starwars, to change the past like Ezra did when he pulled Ahsoka out from dying to Vader in Rebels. Baylen wants to use the world between worlds to gain power but also to change the past. I don't know if he's all that evil, he seems to have his own motivations.

Im not sure we can make that jump
I don’t think we saw Ahsoka die - just the building collapse
World between worlds might be a timey whimey place where what happened always happened
Ezra always pulled Ahsoka out
We think Ezra can’t pull Kanan out bc she stopped him, but maybe he couldn’t anyway
Also her owl buddy was on the portal directing Ezra to her (and the owl has some spirit of The Daughter in it) so that might be a factor as well

And Baylon is too enigmatic to know what’s going on with him - for all we know he could be hatching a plan to eliminate magic from the galaxy

Everyone looking for Thrawn/Ezra, meanwhile Baylon is looking for Mordo

And actually
what in the bleep is Anakin even doing there?
And how - I heard someone say he’s wearing full master robes which he never did until he was a force ghost on Endor
But can a force ghost actually interact with a regular body? She almost certainly got physically pulled through a portal
When and how could Anakin do that?

One of the theories rolling around is that Ahsoka may be dead, but considering it's her show, I'm not so sure...

Yoda called lighting to strike the jedi temple as a force ghost in The Last Jedi, guess its probably something to that effect. Obiwan tells Vader in a New Hope that if he gets struck down, he'll become far more powerful than he could possibly imagine and we know Qui-Gon teaches Obi-wan how to become a force ghost at some point. I'm guessing force ghosts can do some crazy stuff, they've never really expanded upon it much until The Last Jedi when Yoda smacks a depressed Luke with his cane and then force calls lightning that strikes the Temple, setting it on fire.

This show is certainly delivering. I am curious if anyone who didn’t watch CW/Rebels is watching it, and if it’s hitting as good.

”Hello, Snips” straight up gave me chills

I haven't watched either and I feel like I'm missing something because so far I have no connection to what's going on and I'm not really enjoying it besides the lightsaber duels. It just all feel like a cartoon to me, and not in a good way.

I watched the catchup videos on YouTube, and what I've seen of the World between the Worlds thing just feels disappointing and lazy to me. There's no indication of it in any other movie or series and just seems to take away from the gravity that Andor has where real people are willing to die for a real cause.

Also, I fully expect Ahsoka to find the space ring thing with the map the seared onto her hand from the "hot" map ball.

I have not seen CW or Rebels. And so far Ahsoka has just been decent to me but not as good as some of the others. Haven’t seen the latest yet though. I’d rank it below Andor and Mando so far and maybe on par with Fett. However I’m excited to see more development with the mando/Jedi chick.

I agree completely. I put it on par with Book of Boba Fett for me.

I would have been more impressed if Shin would have killed Sabine after Baylon gave his word that he wouldn't and that would have caused major tension / a rift between Baylon and Shin going forward that causes one of them to switch sides. I fully expect all good guys to come out unscathed at this point

You really need to go watch CW and Rebels. You're judging this without knowing where the story is coming from. They've written this taking a lot for granted that the audience knows about the characters. Without having seen those shows, you're missing all that and don't have the background on them to understand their choices or what to expect from them.

I'm enjoying the show immensely, but that's because I know the characters, what their relationships are to each other (except the brand new ones, of course) and what to expect from them. Frankly, it's a completely different vibe than watching it without any of that background.

Possibly, but if this is any indication, it's not pulling me into wanting to watch those. I've seen most everything else Star Wars related and read a lot of books including the Zahn trilogy, which I loved. I have an R2D2 case on my phone and I am a big Star Wars fan. I do agree they are leaning on the audience already knowing the characters, that was pretty evident starting with the cartoon painting of the group from Sabine's room which did nothing for me. I wish there was a little more connection presented, but if I did watch the cartoon series, I probably wouldn't want too much rehash either, so I understand the choice. I just wish there was a little more tension built in, even between Baylon and Shin, because honestly, I'm not really feeling that connection either except for her "having" to obey him. I was really super excited about this coming out, and maybe that's adding to my whole meh attitude about it. I just want more feeling I guess. Maybe a flashback or two of why Sabine is so attached to Ezra... IDK something because like I said, at this point I would have been fine if Baylon or Shin offed her and wouldn't have thought twice about it.

I guess we're seeing it differently because I'm absolutely loving the show. And the background from watching Clones and Rebels. While they're animated and some really don't care for that, it just adds a lot to the current series when you know the back story.

The reason it's meh is precisely because you don't have that back story to connect with. It really does matter. If I compare this to other SW series, I'd put it on par if not better that Mando. The reason for that is because it's an extension of an ongoing saga, and makes the overall story better. I get not everyone will agree, but I feel like falling flat is gonna be inevitable if you haven't seen the other series. But that's jmho.
