Ahsoka Live Action Series (Disney+) (4 Viewers)

She’s hardly beating Jesse Owens. She force-grabbed her lightsaber and force-pushed Ezra. That just doesn’t seem like PhD-level Jedi-ing to me.
Not only is it phD level, but she will have to go outside of her department to create her panel since precious few jedi have ever done this

I don't really buy that. If you're a Jedi, you're already trained in the Force to some degree. Luke picked it up pretty quick. So did Rey. I'm sure others have taken longer. Force push/pull abilities are mind over matter abilities that a Force user already possesses. It's why Yoda tested Luke by telling him to move the X-wing out of the swamp. He hadn't been training long, yet Yoda understood that Luke was powerful, but not yet ready, not because he couldn't wield the Force, but because he wasn't ready to face Vader.

If Rey had done it…maybe
Them showing Kylo stopping the blaster was a good way of introducing a new skill in a plausible way
Rey and Kylo grabbing the ship was a big leap but both had been established as very strong force wielders
The force healing was a stretch but still within boundaries
Had Ezra been the one to force push Sabine, it would have been akin to grabbing the ship- ‘ok we haven’t seen that before, but we’ve seen Ezra as very powerful’
But Hiyang very specifically said Sabine was the worst trainee he’s seen in 2500 years
So not only is it not plausible ‘from a certain point of view’ the show went out of its way to say it’s not possible

I think that's the point. Sabine is showing that the impossible is indeed possible, despite her self-doubt. She had her turning point in the presence of Ezra. He's the difference maker for her and turned Hiyang's comments on it's head. She's now had her turning point and the Force began to flow through her at that point.

I do still think it was Ezra who helped Sabine truly unlock the force in her.

Didn’t we see Vader use the force to hold a ship down in Kenobi? I may have to go rewatch that.

Parable of the Sower:
Sabine is the rocky place
Ahsoka sows her seed there anyway
Hiyang 2500 yr old gardener ‘that is the most infertile ground ever, there is no chance that seed even takes root much less bear fruit’
Ahsoka waters for a bit but gives up bc she senses the seed doesn’t want to be a tomato but might become cyanide
Every now and then the seed will orient to the sun
They keep showing shots of the seed just laying among the rocks (not soil, rocks)
Then they show a tiny, tiny shoot - why? Is it bc the character might have destroyed her entire galaxy bc she needed to go find a friend who’d sacrificed himself specifically to save that same galaxy? (Not exactly exemplar of character growth)
Then 5 minutes later, that show a giant flourishing tomato plant - BUT, it’s not full of tomatoes, it’s full of bottles of a previously unknown marinara sauce

The ONLY thing that could give any cover for this is to find out we are on the planet of the origin of the sith and THAT’S the power she’s tapping into
Then I will happily enjoy that marinara

Can it not be a form of the force dyad that Kylo and Rey had that somehow boosts Sabine's powers? In other words, she's not really that good with the force, only with Ezra?

I really thought you were going the ketchup route, you threw me with the marinara!

They’d have to explain how Hiyang was SO wrong about her then
Because people actually do change sometimes? For some people they need an 'assist' to unlock the Force in them. I'd say Hiyang understood that Sabine was still not where he thought she should be based on his previous observations and he'd given up on the idea that she would amount to much in terms of Force wielding.

I still think the x-factor for Sabine is Ezra and Hiyang didn't account for that possibility.

I think you also have to put his comment in context.
Huyang's been dealing with actual Jedi Academy level padawns learning under Jedi Knights/Masters for centuries.

Ahsoka is not a Jedi, she never finished her training so she's more or less only teaching what she learned till she left (which to be fair, Anakin was her teacher) and what's she's learned on her own since. Sabine does not have the Force sensitivity to have been admitted to the Academy. All of this would add up to the worst of the worst for Huyang. That doesn't mean she can't tap into the Force - all life can, Ahsoka even says it's a talent. You want a Mandalorian to excel at something? Tell them they can't do it.

I don't think Filoni made any of these choices willy nilly. Ahsoka has kind of been taking her own track with the Force since she (justifiably) left the Order - she understood even before Order 66 the Order wasn't "it". You see this in Cal Kestis as well, he taps into the Dark Side of the Force and isn't really stuck on the rigid path of how the Order did things. The "meta" of the universe is changing. At least IMO. That was a painfully nerdy post, I'm off to shower.

It’s a matter of scale
If Harry Potter went from FINALLY being able to levitate a feather to apparating 5 minutes later, it would be an incredible stretch
If Ron did it, even harder to explain
But Sabine is a squib
