All I Want for Christmas Contest 2023! (5 Viewers)

You ever tried telling anyone outside Britain how much you weigh in stones. Blank looks everywhere. Still you got to hand it to the crazy peculiarities of imperial measurement. 16oz in a lb. Then 14 lbs in a stone. So….224oz in a stone :)

I can still remember 12 pence in a shilling and 20 shilling in a pound too ;)
In the AC/DC song Whole Lotta Rosie, the line is "weighing in at 19 stone" which corresponds to about 266lbs. That's a whole lotta...

It's not that crazy! 16 oz in a lb because you can easily divide it into halves, quarters, and eighths, similarly lots of division options with 12 pence in a shilling, 20 shillings in a pound.

And 14lbs in a stone so you can trade wool with fourteenth century Florence.

What's crazy about that?

Soooooooo, popping this thread up in September is the same as buying your holiday decorations at Hobby Lobby now?

Oh, she'll emerge long before Christmas Day

I've said before, it is amazing to me that a song from an album that was originally released 30 years ago, (October 28, 1994 if you're planning some sort of party) a song that really didn't become a "thing" until the last decade or so has completely remade her career

It seems like she is mostly known for this now, and she is all in on it (and has made a shirt ton of money from it)

We should all be so lucky.
