All I Want for Christmas Contest 2024! (2 Viewers)

Turned on the Amazon Fire Stick. The plan was to put a show on as background noise while I work. I made the fatal mistake of putting the remote down to log on to my laptop. The first commercial was a snippet of her video as an advertisement that you can "Deck the hall with these classic music videos for free on FireTV featuring Mariah Carey and More!"

I died this morning at approximately 7:48 AM ET on December 4th via a self-inflicted wound.

Granted, seeing the music video as you slip into consciousness that you've just died isn't a bad way to go.

I fully expect to be ded by Monday. Headed to Malaga with my better half for the long holiday weekend here, and it's going to be a heavy diet of Christmas markets, Christmas shopping and...outdoor Christmas light music shows.

If somehow I'm not ded by the end of the weekend, I'll be luckier than John McClane...

Bleu, I'd like to propose an addendum challenge for next year with your permission.

Okay, so it would be a loser's bracket of sorts. You've been eliminated, but now you get to play a new game. For all of the people who are eliminated, you'd have a second chance to win via this new challenge. As normal, once you've been murdered (I mean...eliminated, sorry, buzd), you report it in the thread. But now that you're in the afterlife, you can win the challenge for the deceased by reporting each time you randomly (key word, randomly) hear the song again until Christmas day. The people who survive without hearing the song, of course, win the main challenge. But the person who hears it the most amount of times wins the "buzd bracket".

If Bleu doesn't mind and we have buy-in from the masses, we could work out some ground rules, but I think it would be fun to have a way to keep playing. For me, the best part of this thread is hearing how people met their demise so I think this would only add to it. And for those people who like the song, they can now participate too. The only rule I foresee is that you can't sit in your car and listen to it on repeat on Spotify or something. You can seek out the song by lingering in places that will definitely play it, but you can't directly be responsible for making the song play.

Thoughts?

Wait...so my suggestion was accepted!? I'm at 1!

By virtue of the fact that I fomented a hostile takeover of the radio station in the rehab gym, I'm still upright. However, I feel dark forces are at work to unseat me as dictator-for-life, and my time is limited. Send lawyers, guns, and money....

Based on a suggestion from @livefromDC...

Now that you're in the afterlife, you can win the challenge for the deceased by reporting each time you randomly (keyword, randomly) hear the song again until Christmas day. The people who survive without hearing the song, of course, win the main challenge. But the person who hears it most often wins the @buzd Rebirth Bonus Round & Lounge.

It's in the updated OP. Congrats, you are suffering the consequences of your own actions.

Does hearing a cover version count?

Or does it have to be Mariah’s?
