Yeah, it's only from the perception of the plane coming in seemingly slower for imminent landing and not having any idea where on the plane the helicopter hits it. But it SEEMS like it just covers a lot of space quickly.
ETA: But I'm not speculating either where the fault is. We don't know, for instance, if the plane was coming in on the correct runway.

I am just imagining being someone waiting at the airport for pick up of family, friends, whatever watching the board for a flight that's scheduled to land within minutes and all of a sudden you're in a completely different scenario
The only time I can remember flying out of there was on a Sunday several years ago after a particularly bad Saints loss (can't remember which game or year). I was wearing Saints gear and another dude getting on the flight was wearing Saints gear and we locked eyes and I was about to whip out a sad "who dat" but he cut me off before I got it out and just said, "Don't". lol I understood.I’ve done that very approach many times - the 33 runway from the south gives you the whole DC skyline if you’re on the right side. It’s a beautiful landing.
