Andrus Peat starting at LT and Max Garcia starting at LG for second consecutive week (1 Viewer)

Saints allowed 17 sacks through 6 weeks. The Saints let up 1 sack against the Jags and 1 sack against the Colts. I don't think we need to look very far on why our offense has been improving. Not to mention the push we've been getting with Peat and Max on the left hand side. Taysom's 20 yard scamper started on that side and we ran the power with 99 to the left side. These are no coincidences.

Don't worry, Peat will strain his pride soon, and miss the rest of the season.

It doesn’t say he’s a bust quite yet, he got benched for veterans w/ a better understand of technique.

that’s not uncommon
Even in his scouting report it was noted navigating his development was gonna be challenging because of how raw he was. He has the physical tools to be upper tier. It may be a year two or 3 thing b4 that happens

Armstead at LT and his complete inability to play on the right side is what forced Peat to LG.
This!

Peat just couldn't make the transition from LT to RT. However, whenever he has had the opportunity at LT, he had done well. It's his natural position.

So against Jax, I was happy to see Peat at LT, and though he gave up something like 8 pressures, he did not give up a sack, and that was against the beast that Josh Allen has become. Not bad for a guy that hadn't played LT in quite some time. So I looked at the Jacksonville game as a tune up for Peat.

I watched all 22 last night and Peat played very well. Very well! Now keep him there and cross your fingers that he can stay healthy.

Exactly this. His few times (prior to this season) playing LT he had sufficient success. So much so that we should have avoided drafting a LT, but we just had to make the trade for some inexplicable reason.

And now that he is finding his form he is set up for free agency.

I see his FA going 1 of 2 ways.

1. We resign and have him play guard again.
2. We let him walk, and his new team has him play LT, and he finishes his career with us wondering “why didn’t we play him more at LT?”

I don’t think we’ve ever needed Peat to stay healthy more than now. All of a sudden he’s become a vital part to the Saints success.

He’s had a patchy career but he has a chance to show his value.

Well said! 👍🏾

Jus a couple of weeks ago, I said Peat was a player you hate to love! He’s a solid, good, and at times even a very good player! But he’s jus been so damn injured prone for soo long, you can’t count on him! 😖

Since then, I’m happy to report that all he’s done since is prove me WRONG , n more!

😂😂😂

So a shoutout to both him AND Max Garcia too! The duo has provided much needed stability to the left side, as well as improving chemistry n continuity along the entire O line!

Not bad for a couple of “old” (Peats about to turn 30, Garcias about to turn 32) backup vets, huh!

😂😂😂

And an “attaboy” to our “newest” OL/FB, DT Khalen Saunders! May he help us score nuttn but Red Zone TDs the rest of the season!!!

👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

And as the starter at LT too?

Who’d a thunk DAT?

Amen Cuz

Peat might have a chance to stay healthier at LT rather than LG. He might get caught up less in pile-ups on the line by playing outside. I recall his having more than a few injuries from getting rolled on late in a play, down in the trenches. He just might have better instinct on how best to avoid this since his "natural" position was LT in college.

I agree, the Saints need Peat to somehow get through the rest of the way....uninjured.
