Andy Dalton is PFF’s 2nd highest graded passer this season (4 Viewers)

PFF also has Dennis Allen ranked 2nd to last, that increases their believability.

The bottom five include Dan Campbell, Robert Saleh, Zac Taylor, and Matt Rhule.
All you have to do is look at under performing teams. It's not rocket science. Is Lovie in their bottom 5?

No one in their right mind. That’s not really the point.

People on here hammer the guy. Point is that he’s actually been decent. Top 2? Of course not. But anyone who thinks he’s been “bad” either isn’t watching or is simply looking for the easiest person to blame.
They see what they want to see...

The other names are really good QBs that are having a good season. I don't need a metric to tell me that. I've watched every snap of Dalton's Saints tenure. He is not top 2 under any metric system. That's why it's a joke. The line about excluding red zone plays proves it. He's garbage in the red zone.
Well yeah when your redzone packages have AK, Olave and Shaheed on the sideline with your hot read being a fade route to Taysom, why can’t anyone be successful here????

That was only one play and Taysom was open. The ball hit his hands. Can't blame Pete for that. He's had many opportunities and he sucks when we get down there.

Or maybe…just maybe…

Dalton has actually been decent (though I agree he’s not a top 5 or top 10 QB).

He's decent when it doesn't matter. He can move the ball for a few drives a game and until we get in the red zone.

The problem is he chokes. Vikings, Bengals, Cardinals he choked in 2 minute situations and cost us the game. Steelers he threw 2 INT's in the 2nd half. Bucs he screwed up the last 2 drives. Tried to do it with the Falcons too.

I wonder what the point of finding out who the best QBs between the 20s are? Like is there a reason to take out red zone stats? It's one of the most important parts of the game. I'm not an Andy hater, he's played well at times and he's played bad at times. I'm just confused as to what the point of excluding red zone is.

They gave him a handicap because of the atrocious coaching staff he’s had to deal with.
Haha.

In a way, that’s accurate. PFF grades based on if they believe a player did his job on a play. If the playcall is bad (i.e, no one is open), then they’re not gonna ding the QB for throwing it away.

I’ve said before that PFF should never be viewed as gospel. There are too many variables they can’t possibly know. But at the very least, I think it’s decent evidence that there’s a lot more holding us back before you hit QB play on the list.

This... This is why I rarely look at stats if they don't equate to wins... Substance (wins) over style (stats) please.
Or maybe…and I know this sounds crazy…

It’s a team game and everything should be evaluated on its own merit and in proper context?? Including “wins” and “stats?”

That’s just for the second part of the stat (points per drop back).

There's a definite reason behind it. Red zone TD percentage over the last three games is now down to 14.29%. Worst in the NFL over that span.
That stat was strictly for fantasy.

Red Zone TD % has been bad. But again, I think it’s pretty clear there are a lot of more glaring reasons for that than Dalton.
