Andy Dalton is PFF’s 2nd highest graded passer this season (2 Viewers)

This... This is why I rarely look at stats if they don't equate to wins... Substance (wins) over style (stats) please.
Agree but may also be why some people have a problem with Winston. He is 38-48 all time. Dalton is 83-77-2. Doesn't matter.. I hope that neither are our starter next season.

Like when he got 28 yards against the Bengals with 2 minutes left to play?

He's been the absolute worst in 2 minute drive situations. He straight up lost us the Vikings and Cardinals games in 2 minute drives.
Which two minute drive against Minnesota? The one that led to the game-tying FG or the one that led to a FG that just missed?

22 yards and 15 of that was on the ground

Edit...had it backwards 7 was on the ground. Don't want to shortchange anyone

Both drives Andy missed "Can't miss" easy passes. A terrible one to Olave that would of given us the yards to make the game tying field goal.

Dalton doesn't win games. If you're perfectly fine with that. Cool.

Which is why Andy is the starter right now. He's the odd name on that list, but he's also the guy who doesn't nearly have the supporting cast those guys do. Saints fans won't like the premise, but Andy's job is to keep the wheels from coming off the bus. We have a defense which can keep teams under 20 points. If Andy can run the offense efficiently, we should be in the games. That might not result in a lot of wins, but it's better than getting blown out. This is what we have to work with right now, which is why the rebuild is so important.

He had a open fullback for 1st down in that Tampa game, but decided to throw a pass to Callaway.
Out in the left flat. We’ve run that play countless times to the right, because it doesn’t force the QB to read his backside DE.

We had never run it to the left in the last 12 years. Until that game. Gee, wonder why.

Never said I’m fine with it long-term. And as I’ve said, I’d prefer to evaluate Jameis the rest of the season.

But yes, I’m fine with how Dalton has played overall. And we’re not in this position because of him.

The one where he fumbled and gave them an easy FG at the end of the first half... Instead of giving us a shot to tie the game they went up 6 points.

Could also mention the end of the game one where he had a bad pass to Olave on the sidelines. Instead of giving Lutz an easy 50 yarder Lutz had to attempt another 60+ yard FG.

Yeah, well I have a different take. Of course, this take is completely my opinion, but I don't believe for a second that DA has started Dalton because of some rando PFF take.

I think AD is starting because DA knows that he's already alienated Winston and starting Winston would contradict what he's said about why AD is starting.

I also think that Hill hasn't gotten a chance to start because DA is way too risk averse to be an NFL HC.

Everything about the guy screams mediocrity and coaching not to lose rather than to win, and because he knows that he mangled the message and coaching with the QB room that he's just sticking with AD because right now it's a "safe" decision.

And maybe…just maybe…the level of blame and level of credit is often higher than it should be.

Depends on if you value wins and championships over style...

I'll save you the anticipation... If you have a great QB... Your team wins, and your team goes to super bowls... If you don't, the odds fall off a cliff to a few random outliers. It's weird like that. Regardless of era, strength of team, etc... the common denominator to Wins and Championships is (way more times than not)... a great QB.

This is hilarious. Look at the guys on that list and their records. I don't know what metric they use, but that dude hasn't played like a top 15 QB. No way he is #2.
Yep when I watch TV I do not think to myself, boy this guy is almost as good as Mahomes or is on Burrows level.

In his last 7 games the offense with him as QB has averaged little more than 15 pts a game.

He's been mediocre to at times decent, but definitely not All Pro level.
