Another metric - No One Watching the Saints (Teams that pulled the most and fewest viewers in 2024) (1 Viewer)

Losing is not good for business, and Mick doesn't understand that concept. There is no time to give a coach three years to prove themselves; Dennis Allen should have been fired in 2023.
I watched one game all year...has little to do with the Allen or the record....

More to do with the NFL, their contracts with content distribution, and my commitments as a Soccer Coach.

Not sure how many Saints fans have declined in viewership because of how the NFL has treated us...but I would imagine it is a rather larger number.

Determined solely by success and TV market size.....

Giants are top 10 despite being terrible.
Smallest TV markets are well represented in the bottom 10
Also teams playing in more nationally televised games have a big advantage obviously
It’s not totally by that metric.
The Saints are the smallest market next to Buffalo and GB.
The Saints are able to draw about 15 million per game because they have no competition with any pro team across multiple states.
You even see in the full rankings, the difference between 11th and the Saints is about or a little less than three million.

If we would have kept on blowing teams out the building from week 3 on. Then we would likely be 1 or 2 in the league in viewership. Fans watch teams that are exciting and that win. Neither of those have been the Saints for a while.
Then why do they watch the Giants, the Bears, the 49ers, and the Cowgirls more than the average team.?....

Viewership has very little to do with record.

“Over the course of 10 wild and woolly national TV dates, Campbell’s charges scared up 22.6 million viewers per game, edging the perennial ratings champs in Dallas by some 175,000 impressions.”

The article you posted suggested - using the Lions as an example- that this data is based on “National TV Dates” (the lions had 10 according to the article) and viewers per game. Nothing to do with local TV.

That being said, the Saints were unwatchable this year even for me. The organization is definitely not “must see” TV. I’m more interested in how folks can extrapolate conclusions based on poorly defined data. I see it in business all the time and I think it’s interesting when it shows up in the wild:)
Outside of the top five, it’s pretty even.
Only the last few weren’t able to even get to 10 million.

They are also on national TV or the 3pm game every week.
The Saints only had three prime time games and 1 3pm game against a national team in the Eagles.

But in the large scale, this is why the League doesn’t worry about when x team gets to the playoffs/Super Bowl over y team.
All the ratings are about the same.

I think these numbers are getting misinterpreted for a few reasons.
1. These numbers prove why NOLA is such a viable market. Covering multiple states with no pro team until Atlanta.
2. Even with LSU bring their only in state competition, the Saints average is almost double the highest rated LSU game this season. (USC/LSU at 8 million.
3. After the top five, the variance between franchises is only a few million.
4. The only franchises that really should be worried are Tennessee and Jacksonville. The Raiders will survive and become more viable the longer they’re in Vegas. Mainly because the Raiders fanbase is so huge and they’re less than 10 years in Vegas.
Tennessee and Jacksonville are nearing 3 decades in their respective markets and barely average higher than a Thursday Night MAC game.

since everything in here is compared to denver these days.....take that sean! we beat you at something.

Hard to say with Vegas.

The city is primarily immigrants (non-Vegas residents, such as myself every September) that fly in on a daily basis. I would imagine with all the casinos their local viewership is pretty much "every NFL game" with little home team favoritism accounting for their local viewership.

Vegas stadium numbers I would think would be awesome...But after a cursory checking, it appears they had the 2nd lowest stadium attendance.*

So perhaps you are right Vegas is still in their infancy...and should not be concerned as much as TN and Jax.

By the way the Saints were #14 out of 32 in stadium attendance which should help put the TV numbers in perspective.

I do find it hysterical how much zip squat the average SR Fans insight on NFL ownership is.

The other crazy thing about the chart is that, despite 6 Super Bowl rings this century, once they started losing, the Pats seem maybe to have fallen back into their late 20th century role as the 4th most popular team in Boston.

I understand but personally, I do not take time to watch a sinking ship (I mean team). I might check the score but by mid-season, it was clear where we were going.

The top 2 in the right-side column looks like a TNF matchup where you decide to hit the sack early. LOL!

Yep. Something about those logos mashed together, I too immediately associate the pairing with being a bad primetime game, and one they’re trying to hype up all week.

Loomis and Gayle are doing big things!!

More unnecessary negativity. We even beat a playoff team (Denver) in viewership. As soon as we starting winning ... heck, to start next season with a new HC and attitude, will increase our viewership greatly. Another moot point post for no good reason.
