Anyone else wary of Leodis McKelvin? (1 Viewer)

Remember in the playoff game againts the Eagles and Josh Bullocks dropped 3 ints??? We need a DB that can also catch a miss int might turn into points for the opposing team.

Thats what I don't get about McKelvin (well not even McKelvin, the talking heads)and I didn't get to see him play so I don't have a true opinion on him. But all these talking heads say he can't catch a cold and drops TONS of INT's but if his hands were that bad, would he really be a return man. Not exactly where I would put a corner with poor hand on the field, but hey to each thier own. I was also troy and a pair of bad hands may have been thier best hands. Again I didn't watch him at all, so its tough for me to say. But from reading these guys like Mayock, he seems to think his hands are bad, and Kiper does too, now is that just the old "we needed to put something in the negative colum, and that why we did that" Which is another reason I hate these guys, Trever Laws is to short according to Mayock, but Ellis isn't and I believe Laws is taller, and mayock goes and says, well I couldn't find anything wrong with his game. SO PUT NOTHING, don't just make stuff up because you need to fill in the blank. I swear they do it every year and its the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Why do you HAVE to put something, if there is nothing to put, than don't put it.

Kenny Philips, Negative... not Ed Reed... well no way... you sure. That really isn't Ed Reed, well thank you Mike Mayock.

What the hell does that mean anyways, Not Ed Reed, nice evaluations.

You don't have to have good hands to return punts/kicks... It's actually easier.

yeah I hear ya, but would you let someone with BAD hands do it. Devery I believe returned kicks like ipointed aout above. But Devery has bad hands for a WR, he has good hands compared to alot of DBs etc. I think you have to be able to catch to return kick. Bad handsy's means no catchie So I do think it applies in some way shape or form.

Also I have caught many of footballs thrown via someones hand, and caught many in the air being punted. I think they both require alotta the same skills, but I would say its harder to catch the wabbly punt, or the ball going end over end, than it is to catch a nice spiral. But thats just me.

I didn't watch many Troy games so I logged onto Youtube to find some highlights of the guy since he's shot up the draft boards and now a unanimous Top 15 pick with whispers he could go in the Top 10. However, to my surprise I was unable to find any highlights of him besides his punt return touchdown against Oklahoma St- the same one the replay over and over when discussing him on Sportscenter.

I mean you can find highlights for anyone on Youtube including grade schoolers so why not McKelvin? They played in a bunch of big games this year, so I doubt being able to acquire footage would be a problem. The guy has 2 interceptions in 3 years and hangs hit hat on being a tackler and punt/kick returner. The most disturbing stats- 3 interceptions and only 13 pass breakups in 25 games. Lemme guess, they didn't throw his way?:hihi: Excuse me, but I think i'll have to pass.:9:
Who is your top rated CB in the draft?

Come on dude , your gonna base this off of a lack of highligths on youtube? Are you serious? They don't have any videos of Cason on youtube either....so we should avoid him too right? Highlights are what they are.....they are highlights. They only show the good points. I want to see ALL points. they have a bunch of great videos on Sedrick Ellis on youtube but none of them show his troubles with double teams and his inability to fight off a wash down. All players have faults....highlights never show them.Plus...I'm not baseing my thoughts on a football player due to his lack of footage on the same site i go to see hot asian chicks make out. However....if they had a video of McKelvin covering a hot asian chick and breaking up the pass on a come back route i'd be all over it. But it's youtube....just cause there are no highlights does not mean there are none. I suggest downloading the Troy vs. Florida and Troy vs. Ok. state game. McKelvin does nothing special stat wise in either game. He just dominates Andre Caldwell and Adarius Bowman 2 of the more prominent WRs in the NCAA ranks. He allowed Caldwell 1 Catch for 8 yards then proceeded to give Bowman fits the next week. And yeah , he had 2 picks this year , but isn't the avg. int rate for DBs in the nfl between 2 and 4? Come on man....he does not allow TDs...AT ALL. If you want a bunch of picks fine......so answer me this question.

Would you rather a CB who doesn't allow TDs and gets 1 or 2 picks a year OR would you rather Deltha O'Neal?

yeah................you think about that.
:plus-un2:

Domepatrol, my friend, here is a McKelvin video for you:

http://nfldraft.rivals.com/video.asp?section=football&pkey=36502

I love to see all of these videos but I take them with a grain of salt. At the end what we are watching are highlights, and it can be all the big plays a guy made during a season.

For instance, I watched videos of 3 linebackers today, Rivers, Goff and Dizon. By these highlights it will be very tough to evaluate which of this 3 is a better player. Sometimes it is even difficult to see the size of them.

Anyway, the McKelvin video has some special-team plays, but also some covering and tackling.

Hope you enjoy it.

Mckelvin's strength is in his speed and hips. He has the best hips in the draft. His ball skills is the reason why I feel we should go in a different direction. This team needs a play maker more than anything else. Mckelvin, Cromartie, Jenkins have not done anything to set themselves apart yet. I'll be happy with any of the three if we take a corner.

I think that Jenkins will be the most complete corner out of the group, Mckelvin will be the best pure cover man, and Cromartie will be the elite play maker out of the three(and I'm not saying that he won't be good in the other areas either).

McKelvin is a threat to return the ball for a TD any time he gets his hands on it

Saw him in Lafayette against the Cajuns. I wish I had been aware of his potential draft status and keyed on him. What I do remember is that Coach Bustle had them punt out of bounds or to the sidelines. And I believe we kicked off short as well.

Did not pay attention to his coverage skills. Cajuns run more than pass, now.

Thank you captain obvious. Of course having a video on there doesn't mean much, but all I was asking for is some highlights of the guy because it would be nice to see this guy making plays on the ball, show casing his supposed ability.

You're right 2-4 picks is average in the NFL....but not the Sun Belt. And I was of the train of thought we were looking for a lot better than "average" players at #10.:9:

"yeah.............you think about that"

I think Aquib Talib is the most well-rounded, but I love Rodgers-Cromartie's upside. I would have no problem with gambling on Cromartie with #10. You can't deny the guy's athleticism. There seems, atleast to me, an aura of specialness (word? ha) that surrounds Cromartie that I just don't see in McKlovin at this point.

The only position that Talib would start at on our team is FS
