Anyone ever meet Loomis in person? (32 Viewers)

Met Brees at the Sam's on Airline in 2010. He tried a couple of the free samples and then needed help getting his credit card to work on his way out. Told me all I needed to know about the guy
I can relate to card issues in pretty much every grocery store scanner on the planet that isn't brand-new. Gotta put it in gently, else it will tell you that you have a "chip problem."

As for the OP, the funniest part is walking into a restaurant themed as such and asking for "the noodle dish." :ROFLMAO:

I was at Rolls N Bowls on Metairie Rd a few summers ago. In walks Loomis and he walks to the register to make a take out order. Seems like he has never been to the restaurant before or ate Vietnamese food. He tells the guy:

“Gimme one of those shrimp things. And my son wants the noodle dish. I ll take a few of these. Whats the meat and noodle dish? I ll take it. You can add a plate of that stuff with the pork.”

I remember thinking, sounds like the restaurant is familiar with what he orders and he must go there often, but he has no clue what any of the items are called. Makes sense now to see where the saints are with everything. Anybody else have any strange encounters like this with him?
Now we're critiquing the way a guy orders food and thinking it has ANYTHING to do with his job performance? Oy...

I met Mickey in person 3 times, each in the offseason, and had some interesting tid-bits of Saints info from each one. #3 is the best if you are pressed for time.

1. 2006 offseason (before 2006 season) - I was at Tad Gormley stadium when Reggie Bush donated money to the field (where my profile picture was taken). Reggie signed my jersey, and the picture of us ended up on USA Today. Reggie was doing an ESPN interview, and I talked to Mickey outside the room. I asked him about what we were going to do with RB Michael Bennett, who had signed with us before we drafted Reggie and was coming off a great season with the Vikings. He told me they liked the player but were looking into options to get him playing time (he was eventually traded). I also asked him about Donnie Edwards, Chargers linebacker who we were rumored to be interested in trading for and who I wanted on the team. He told me that the Saints were interested but trying to agree on compensation (trade never materialized).

2. 2008 offseason (before 2008 season) - I was at the Saints Hall of Fame Luncheon, and I asked him about Robert Meachem who just finished his rookie season after not playing much. He said he had a lot of confidence in him and that I should expect good things for him moving forward. Brief interaction.

3. 2009 offseason (before 2009 Super Bowl Season) - I was drinking with some friends at Felipe's on Decatur and Loomis was eating with his wife. When we were leaving, I stopped over at their table, apologized for interrupting, and told Mickey that I just wanted to say hello and that we had met a couple times before. He politely said he remembered me (I doubted it) and asked how I was doing. We small-talked for a bit, and I told him I had one Saints question before I left. He appeased me, and our dialogue went like the below:

Me: "Who is going to be our starting free safety this year?" (Context: We were coming off the Josh Bullocks era and the mantra on the board at the time was "Can he play safety? We all knew we were getting a new FS and had met with Darren Sharper and Gerald Sensabaugh at the time. Those were the two likeliest candidates.)

Loomis: "Well, who do you like?"

Me: "I can see both sides. Sensabaugh is younger and more athletic, but Sharper is more of a veteran ballhawk."

Loomis: "This guy knows his stuff. So which one do you like?"

Me: "I like Sharper."

Loomis: "Well, I like Sensabaugh."

Me: "So that's who it's gonna be?"

Loomis: "We'll see in the next few days."

Later that week on March 10, 2009, Sensabaugh signed with the Cowboys. A week later on March 18th, the Saints signed Sharper to a one year deal. This interaction has led me to conclude that we signed Sharper as Loomis' second choice because Sensabaugh chose the Cowboys and that the Saints likely don't win the Super Bowl without that decision.
