Are Carr and Pete on the same page? (1 Viewer)

How about Pete make the adjustment to give our left tackle some help earlier after getting smoked in pass pro every play. Carr was under extreme pressure and minus two passes he was on the money especially when given a little time and even with pretty much zero running game he still came threw. Shaheed just missed a TD early in game but knee touched line. Over 300 yards and a TD (could’ve been two TD) on a stout Defense and stacked d line? I’ll take it especially after last couple years.
Lol I wouldn’t say that giving Penning help was a rocket science move. Drunk Saints fan was calling that out within the first few minute of the game.

That and the shot to Shaheed at the end were enough for me to believe that PC is capable. Hoping that is a glimpse of things to come and a shift in philosophy! (As opposed to our heavy conservatism last year)
Didn’t adjust to penning getting beat, didn’t add blockers/chippers until late in 4th quarter. Didn’t use Taysom correctly or at all. Didn’t target/use Graham in the redzone, didn’t dial up screens and fast plays…should I continue?
I’m pretty confident that the Penning issue was corrected at half, so you’re already exaggerating to try to make a point that isn’t there.

Please explain how to use Taysom “correctly”???

What was the coverage when they “didn’t target” Jimmy?

What does screens do to a team that isn’t bringing pressure that would make a difference?

No, you shouldn’t continue… smh

This is a weak attempt to push a narrative by retroactively creating the reasons. Whatever he didn’t do is the thing that was better. That’s grade school

If I paid $100M he better be ready to call his own plays if needed. I remeber when he was hollerin the sideline , the tempo and playcalling sucked, Pete needs to leave the screens and power runs for short yardage, the screens just dont develope from the formationas they stack out of being predictable. Those 1v1s with Olave and Shaheed should be monwy all year as long as the OL gets it together. I feel like the offensive line could use more 1v1 BLOCKING vs the DLine Autry made me look at Penning way too much this game. He gets caught at the point of attack flat footed and gets mauled and turned around and upside down

Playcalling was fine overall, besides the late adjustment on the left. You can only work with what you have on your hands. Have to run the ball even if your players are not as good as their DL. Carmichael couldn’t fix the run game and penalties because these things were not on him, so it is what it is.
Regarding “couldn’t fix the run game” you’re right in that we were short handed and this was the top run defense last year. That’s why I loved the play calling after the big play to Shaheed on the last drive. The Titans stacked the line and killed Williams on first down as they knew we’d run to kill clock. PC went right back to the end around to Shaheed that worked earlier, but was negated by penalty. Great call as it got six (?) yards and loosened things up for Williams to seal the game on the next carry.

I think people are overlooking that our starting OLine hasn’t played much together. That unit is dependent on chemistry just like QB’s & WR’s are on timing w/each other. Honestly, since the league has changed to 3 preseason games, it seems teams around the league knock rust off for three weeks, before settling in to their identities in the 4th week. I make a point to hold off on determining what type of team we have until we finish our fourth game of the season. By then, most teams’ offenses come into form and their defenses have an identity.

The Saints are notorious slow starters even during Payton’s era. I take these first three or four games as extended preseason battles that actually count. Players are still getting used to live bullets, given many didn’t play much in preseason. I don’t expect us to gel for another few games. If we can still win during that period, we’ll have a tough squad to beat once things start clicking.

Exactly my thoughts. Due to the 3 game preseason, Starters get maybe one series if that. In all the preseason games played (3), how many quarters or even minutes did the true starters actually account for. Back in the day, it was customary to let the starters play 3 quarters before giving way to the players on the bubble. It may take 3 games before we see what we expect to see.
