I think it’ll be impossible to tank next year.

Wouldn't that be something. Losing record, win NFC South, homefield playoff game & top 10 pick...I think it’ll be impossible to tank next year.

nah, if you make the playoffs your draft after all the teams that didn't. No matter record.Wouldn't that be something. Losing record, win NFC South, homefield playoff game & top 10 pick...
I don't think they're trying to tank but rather they're entering into some level of incompetency at this point.
Houston has 2 first round picks in 2023 and 2024…Take the 2024 picks and couple that with our first round pick to possibly move up. You would have 3 first round picks. We won’t talk about the Tulane Game Caleb.
Nope. USC QB are not very good in pro.Caleb Williams time ….I’m on board
NFL teams don’t tank. Would it be in Dennis Allen’s best interest to tank or any of the coaches? Would they be rehired or go along with it? Would the GM do it to look like he put together a horrible team and have a good chance of being fired? All for what? A shot at a top pick where there may be a QB worth picking who has a 50/50 shot at being really good at best. Would an owner want to ruin her attendance, concession sales, and other revenue streams to hope to build it back up if the QB eventually starts to play well? Would the players go along with it to ruin their value for the next contract and lose for this future player who could very well be a bust? All of these people are going to keep this secret and go along with it?With the lack of coaching changes and obvious plan to remain status quo in 2023.
Are the Saints planning a tank in 2023
for top tier QB? No one wants to believe it actually happens (tanking) but we know it does. I sure hope i’m wrong but lack of changes is extremely discouraging.
There are two periods in this organization’s history.This. I think the SP/Brees era created a mirage of the organization as a whole suddenly being great, when in reality, it had simply lucked into HOF talent at two key spots.
There were signs even throughout that golden era that we had no idea what we were doing. Thankfully, we figured out how to win at least one championship despite all the constant obvious errors the organization has always been prone to.
Now with those guys out of the building, the warts are starting to show again, and quite honestly, may have played a role in why SP was ready to jump ship.
There are two periods in this organization’s history.
-The Meacom Years- Which I think you’re referring to. The Saints were horribly mismanaged by a trust fund kid in his late 20s/early 30s.
- The Benson Years- The Saints have been well managed during this time frame from 1985 to the present. Under the Bensons, the franchise has had two long term coaches in Jim Mora, who was unfortunately placed in the same division as the Montana/Young 49ers, and Sean Payton, who brought the franchise a Super Bowl title.
Out of the 38 seasons with the Bensons at the head of the franchise, 27 of those seasons have been with one of those two coaches.
Those two eras are completely different and the Meacom Years shouldn’t cast this shadow thirty eight years after he sold the team.
If the NFCS existed in the 80s, the Saints would’ve won a few more division titles from that era and probably sneak into a conference championship or even a Super Bowl. That’s fair. Personally I feel like it’s been a mixed bag mostly of mediocrity, outside of this Golden Era where we had a historical offense and the relatively brief Dome Patrol era where we had a historical defense.
And the Saints haven’t really bottomed out. For the majority of the Bensons, 7 wins has been the floor minus Ditka and the Katrina Season. That’s fair. But being in the West during the Niners heyday really handicapped the Saints at that time.

It’s not that 20 consecutive playoff appearances Landry has with the Cowboys, but to go nearly four decades and have only a few 3 win seasons says a lot.
And here’s where the Saints rank in wins from when Benson bought the team to 2021. The site hasn’t yet updated to 2022, but the Saints are right around Philadelphia and Minnesota.
