Arrow - Spoilers galore (1 Viewer)

I'm going to say it's Roy.

I believe they said when Colton Haynes left the show he would come back for some guest spots down the line.

So you've got a character that's established enough for it to have meaning, but is no longer regular and whose actor is no longer on a seasonal contract. It would give emotional punch, but also not upset the apple cart too much in terms of the regular cast.

But I can also see it being Lance. I feel like they've never really fully known what to do with him ever since he found out that Sara was really dead.

The whole episode was a bit down in quality. I mean, 2-3 guys spraying bullets out the back of a van for like a full minute and can't hit someone on a motorcycle 10 feet away?

Really? And then they stop the van, another van pulls up, guys get out 15 feet away, spray bullets for 5 seconds BEFORE speedy and BC start running to get behind the door, and no one gets hit?

I am all for suspension of disbelief in comic book shows/movies, but that episode took it a bit too far.

Stephen Amell remains great, but the chick playing Thea is regressing in acting talent.

I hope the season picks up quickly.

I hadn't thought of Roy, that is definitely a possibility.

I'm still going to go with either Felicity or Diggle. I don't think Lance's death would have that kind of emotional impact for Oliver.

The producers have been a bit dismayed at Arrow's ratings, especially in comparison to Flash, so they thought they'd make Arrow a little more 'lighthearted' like Flash.

What they don't get (producers never seem to truly understand their audience, IMO), is that a lot of people watch Flash because of the 'fantasy' nature of metahumans, etc. Arrow, on the other hand, is grittier and darker. Unless Arrow grows some superpowers (god forbid) the show will never be Flash. Two different shows with two different meanings and two different types of appeal, IMO.

The episode featured telekinesis, blood magic rituals, and,a guy getting the life sucked out of him via mystical means, and yet it was too unbelievable because some guys missed their targets at close range.

Some people have the most bizarre complaints about believability and realism when it comes to these shows.

I can't comprehend at all why Flash is universally regarded as the better show?

Even with the advantage of knowing what went wrong in the first 2 seasons of Arrow, Flash is good but not Arrow good.

I can deal with mystical powers and stopping arrows by the flick of the wrist but found myself shaking my head at the gun play in this episode. I am leaning towards not keeping up to date week by week with Arrow and the Flash. They are both losing their appeal.

I think they show that Laurel isn't nearly as good of a fighter (yet) as Oliver, Sarah, etc. Is she a better fighter and able to take on more than would be realistic in that time span? Definitely. But the show is what it is, the heroes have to be able to fight. I think they do a decent enough job showing that she still has a long way to go before she is as good as Sarah.

And I don't mind the storm trooper-ness of the "ghosts" in regard to gunplay and accuracy. I did find it strange that after an entire episode of capping ghosts with no remorse, Diggle used a tranq dart on Damien Dhark while he was fighting Oliver. Seems like they could have broken up their fight (and letting them both survive) a better way. Maybe I missed an explanation there?

Last year Flash was better than Arrow but this year Arrow has resumed crushing it.

Audiences seem to be getting tired of the grimdark, ridiculously angsty approach to stuff. Everything moves in cycles and while that kind of thing was very popular for a while, but people seem to want their superheroes to be a little more "super" again. Flash does that. It's got a sense of fun and hopefulness about it, but still has stakes.

It's also the most comic booky show on TV. They didn't shy away from Grodd. They didn't shy away from Earth 2 or time travel. Stuff like that often never gets properly adapted because of producers thinking audiences won't be on board/able to understand/weirded out/whatever. Flash does it. And does it well.

That said, Arrow has been MUCH better so far this season. I really felt last season was a massive dud, but it has rebounded in a big way. They've got a great scenery chewing villain in Damian Darhk, they've pulled back on some of the oppressive hopelessness that was starting to infect the show (Oliver really seemed like an almost nihilistic character at times last year) while still keeping things a bit darker than Flash, they've gotten the characters back to what works for them (Felicity was terrible last season and though I'm still not sold on the Oliver/Felicity romance, she's at least back to being recognizable), and have introduced some new plot threads that could go interesting places.

Totally agree with everything said. Only thing that irks me is that damn helmet Diggle wears.
