They invested too much, Trey and both guys are under contract. They're not going to get a lot for Lance at this point.

A lot invested in picks that have already been used but not much financially. Unless they get a great offer they can just chill and enjoy the depth.

I also think they invested much too much in Lance, and a trade this offseason would be selling too low. The best they could get with a second-round pick. I also am sold on Purdy long-term. He is surrounded by talent, and defensive coaches are just starting to get enough video of his game to create defenses against him.

Only way it would make sense for them to trade Lance is if they get an offer they can't turn down, and that seems unlikely. He's under contract through 2024 so, if nothing else, they can continue developing him to compete and as an insurance policy.

I agree there is no rush, and his value is not high right now.

Is it the system? Just about every QB looks good in that system.

I wouldn't mind the Saints spending a seconder rounder and 24 draft pick on Trey Lance. It's a reasonable risk for a player that might have a high yield. If doesn't work team isn't crippled by a bad contract or losing high end draft capital.

Yeah he has enormous upside. He was really young when he was drafted and still has great tools.

Makes a lot more sense for them to take another year and see if he can fulfill that potential while competing with Purdy. So much that if they started actively trying to trade him, I would wonder why.
