2023 was Swift. Over 3 yards before contact. 3rd in the NFL with RBs over 1k yards. 3.0 before contact / 4.6 ypc

2022 Swift was with the Lions and averaged 3.8 yards before contact / 5.5 yards per carry

2024 Swift with the Bears avg 2.0 yards before contact / 3.8 ypc

Notice the theme?
Thanks for the research!

Yet sometimes you end up being the Lions with Barry Sanders or Calvin Johnson because you have a generational talent and nothing around them. I'll take a great team over a great player 10 out of 10 times.

😂 Your rebuttal is look at Detroit. Dude? Hey while you're at it, the Browns have been wasting a future HoF DE too, LOL.

Not drafting great players is never the answer.

I honestly don’t think I’d take any of these oline prospects at pick 9, I’d rather Jeanty and load up on guards in rounds 2 or 3 with this being a deep guard class. Honestly this draft is setup in favor of us. Kellen Moore said he will play to his teams strength. We were a much better rushing team. Build on that with drafting an elite prospect and than getting a great guard in the second round, and maybe even another later on.

The difference between Jeanty, Warren, and Tet and the rest of their respective classes is vastly greater than the difference between the top guards and tackles and the rest of their classes.

This isn't hard if you're just evaluating talent.

Here's the biggest issue IMO. I don't have a top 10 pick grade on any of the OL or DL outside of Carter and Graham which both will be gone.

(I need to watch more Nolan so tbd)

Makes the decision of RB much easier.

I'm of course not going to say Jeanty is a must-pick at 9, but I wouldn't be surprised if they took him.

Moore got to the Cowboys in 2018 so inherited Zeke in his early prime (yes, they had rebuilt the line by then with Zack and Tyron).

Moore had Barkley.

Moore only had 3rd down back Ekeler as the feature back in 2023 in LA, and they under-achieved.

Jeanty is averaging pick 12 (Cowboys) in the mocks composites so it would not be a reach.

A backfield anchored by Kamara the elder and Jeanty the future would be stout, and give the offense a new identity. Rattler-Jeanty could be a launchpoint.

While not relevant to today, the 1980 Saints took George Rogers 1st to rebuild from the 1-15 team. The 1986 Saints took Reuben Mayes in the 3rd round and featured him immediately starting in his rookie season.

I wanted a young offensive head coach and we got him and he wants to establish the run. I would be fine with Jeanty unless things come up that lower his draft stock, or, as you said, we'll see what they do with roster and FA before the draft. I hope CE-H has his body and mind straight and would be a 3rd back, but we'll see about all that.

A good coach should be able to get weapons and build O-Line at the same time, and assuredly over this and next offseason.
And Kamara could be used as a WR also putting them both in the game at the same time.

My rebuttal is that having a generational talent, if he ends up being that, doesn't always make your team good. You have to build the whole team and RB is our deepest position as it stands today. Reggie Bush was thought to be a generational talent and never made a Pro Bowl. Saquan didn't change the fortunes for the Giants either, he had to go to a team that built their team right to win.

Besides, Kellen Moore said he was going to build the team the right way. I don't consider drafting a RB at 9 the right way for this team right now.

You have to trust that instinct. It's not an issue. Better players will make the team better in the long run and give the Saints more flexibility.

If no other players on the OL or DL has a top 10 grade, they shouldn't be in the conversation. But people who are stuck on the idea of need will be lured into making bad decisions because of it.

Agree 100%

I’ve stated a few times if Carter, Graham or Tet are there the pick is a no brainer.

Unfortunately for us the Panthers have pick 8 and have needs in all 3 of those positions.

We would need 2/3 to be there at pick 8 to have one available at 9.

Seeing Tet going later and later in recent mocks, surprisingly. Think I’ve seen him as low as 19 with the mainstream mock drafters (Daniel Jeremiah maybe?).

Carter will be LONG gone. Only chance he makes it to 9 is if he gets pulled over with an intent to distribute amount of cocaine in his car.

I’ve also seen Tet dropping. A big part will be his 40 time but honestly I don’t care, for a big X WR I don’t care about 40 time. Go look at the greats like Jerry Rice and Larry Fitz, etc. give me someone to move the chains.
