Who's the OC?
Mike McDaniels might be looking for an OC job next year.

Vrabel at HC
McDaniels at OC
Saleh at DC

Not sure it could happen, but Vrabel is greatly respected in NFL player and coaching circles.

I would also take Brian Flores as Head Coach. I wanted him over DA in 2022

I wanted Johnson when they should have fired DA last season. I still hope they fire DA after this year and go after Johnson

The cap will be fine in a couple years and I don't think it's near as big an issue to coaches as it is to fans arguing on the internet. The roster is aging, but we do have some good young players in Fuaga, Olave, Shaheed, Breese, Taylor, Kool-Aid, and maybe Penning and Rattler. Miller even looked good on Thursday.

Plus we will likely have a top 5 or top 10 draft pick.

The reality is that any job that will be available will have major issues. If they didn't then the job wouldn't be open unless it's someone retiring on top which isn't happening this year. The available jobs aren't going to have franchise QBs unless you think Lawrence is one and I don't think he has shown to be that.

We have issues, but all the jobs will have issues. Regardless, even if we don't get the top guy, who is likely Ben Johnson, there will still be plenty good options out there. Frankly, there are better options this year than the year we hired DA.

Sorry to bring some reality into this pitty and misery party.
Agree. There’s plenty to be negative about without inventing stuff. People who think we’ll struggle to hire one of our first choices clearly don’t understand how the NFL works.

We have a GM who won’t fire a HC until at least 3 years in, an owner willing to maximise spend by cutting bonus checks to restructure contracts and most probably will have a top 5 pick. Those things make us just as attractive as any of the teams that will likely be looking for a new HC. Where Ben Johnson goes will ultimately be decided by salary and contract length. I have no reason to think Gayle Benson wouldn’t be willing to make a big offer, should Loomis go in that direction.

Brian Flores has absolutely no answer for Ben Johnson and his scheme today.

Another, in a long list, example as to why Gayle Benson should pay him whatever he wants to be the next coach of the Saints.
He also has 2 Pro Bowl worthy receivers, an All Pro worthy TE, best Oline and 2 great RB. We got a skinny concussion prone WR, a 30 year old RB and Penning. His guys are winning 1v1 all over the field and Saints guys are losing most of them.

I don't like Vrabel and while I like Flores, a lot of information came out about how he was treating people and I don't think it works in the modern day NFL. But, maybe he has learned since then because I really love the aggressive defenses he puts on the field.

Anyway, Ben Johnson or Slowlik are probably at the top of every list but I do like Aaron Glenn and Kliff Kingsbury as options if we can't get the top guys. Kingsbury concerns me because he was fired in Arizona after going 4-12, but he did a great job there before then and has done a good job with Jayden Daniels in Washington.

I’m not sure what any of that about our situation has to do with Ben Johnson schooling Flores.

I agree with most of what you said, but Vrabel is not so much my favorite choice, but the best example of a new HC that would not be a play caller and knows how to create a culture of hard hitting, hard workers.

Regarding Flores, I think he’s learned from the bad press of him being “mean” to Tua, but he also had an owner that picked a QB he didn’t want and expected him to win big now. That seems the opposite of Saints ownership.

I love Johnson, Slowick, and Glenn - but Glenn is not far enough away from what the Saints need to get away from right now, because that would mean Loomis is staying and having the same level of control as with Allen.

I love Kingsbury as an OC, but I don’t think he’s ever going to be a good HC. JMHO,

All fair points. None of those guys are perfect, but I like all of them over giving DA another year.

He just continues to impress with his game-planning and play calling.
We need to try and figure out a way to tempt him, this is the exact sort of coach we need.
Go get all the DET FO execs he wants to work with (under their current GM) and put on the full court press for his services. We can offer him a ton of money and even some power/control over roster decisions, many other teams can't do that.
It may be a longer-shot, but I don't think it's as far fetched as some have stated.

Just give him $12m a year.

He would/will be looking at possibly picking one of the few top QB prospects available this draft, so that would seem to be in the favor of the good offensive coaching candidates who want to build their own team….just wishful thinking mostly on my part.

Ben Johnson? Haha.

With the shape the team's in, I would give Dan Levy a shot.

Whoever we hire we have to give them “time”…if we lose while rebuilding, that’s fine. I wanna see effort like the Lions did since Campbell showed up. I wanna see their vision….that’s literally what happened with the Lions, you could see what they were doing.

As far as the Saints are concerned I saw no vision and I had no idea what we were doing. We acted like we were the Chiefs just needing a few missing pieces. Maybe we only needed that, who knows ? But DA was not the right guy for that.

We need to fix our cap situation first and foremost. Work through the draft like Green Bay does…I’m expecting a few years of being bad but there has to be effort and a light at the end of the road.

We have to hit a home run with who is hired. If we don’t get a young coach like say Ben Johnson I would go with Mike Vrable, he wasn’t a bad coach.

I don’t know anything though, I’m just a fan. 😂
