This is a lousy spot until Lucky steps down: terrible cap, no competent GM, serious QB questions, and an aging roster.

All good points, but we have nothing other than money to offer. Besides not having a competent front office, we don't have a strong owner. This is a bad situation.I've acknowledged it's probably a long-shot, and will largely depend on what other jobs are available. Johnson wasn't interested in any openings last year and that may be the case again?
We might stand a shot because we can offer a ton of money and perhaps some input to the FO--depending on how all of that shakes out? There could be a power vacuum to fill?
Ben Johnson is young enough to possibly desire a tear-down rebuild?
We basically need to get lucky with somebody like we did with Payton in 06 who came here after GB didn't hire him. This is a lousy spot until Lucky steps down: terrible cap, no competent GM, serious QB questions, and an aging roster.

You never know, Reid took the Chiefs after a 2-14 season and the Belcher incident. As Underhill said, a guy like Johnson won't want to come here.
Chiefs didn't have our Cap issues building a team. We are in a crap city and a bad market with huge cap issues. Working with Loomis. No one will come. You will get some hopeless dude who no one wants. You never know, Reid took the Chiefs after a 2-14 season and the Belcher incident.
And KC is? They’re a flyover state!Chiefs didn't have our Cap issues building a team. We are in a crap city and a bad market with huge cap issues. Working with Loomis. No one will come. You will get some hopeless dude who no one wants.
And the Chiefs just had a murder in the practice facility a few months before hiring Reid.Chiefs didn't have our Cap issues building a team. We are in a crap city and a bad market with huge cap issues. Working with Loomis. No one will come. You will get some hopeless dude who no one wants.
Everyone is in denial if they honestly think ANY of the top HC candidates will want this job.Ben Johnson will be at the top of every team’s list that is searching for a new HC next offseason. He will get to pick where he wants to go… and it won’t be New Orleans.
He’d be a fool to choose a team saddled with terrible contracts, a regressing QB, and aging leadership.

We have a terrible cap situation, aging roster, zero depth, no franchise QB, and a complete lack of young talent.
Whatever HC we hire will be jumping on a live grenade and will ultimately be fired.
That Lawrence contract was terrible. He leads the NFL since 2021 in qb fumbles by a huge margin, and i think he has thrown the most INTs. He is a turnover machine. Even since his first year in college Lawrence has mostly only declinedThe cap will be fine in a couple years and I don't think it's near as big an issue to coaches as it is to fans arguing on the internet. The roster is aging, but we do have some good young players in Fuaga, Olave, Shaheed, Breese, Taylor, Kool-Aid, and maybe Penning and Rattler. Miller even looked good on Thursday.
Plus we will likely have a top 5 or top 10 draft pick.
The reality is that any job that will be available will have major issues. If they didn't then the job wouldn't be open unless it's someone retiring on top which isn't happening this year. The jobs aren't going to have franchise QBs unless you think Lawrence is one and I don't think he has shown to be that.
We have issues, but all the jobs will have issues. Regardless, even if we don't get the top guy, who is likely Ben Johnson, there will still be plenty good options out there. Frankly, there are better options this year than the year we hired DA.
Sorry to bring some reality into this pitty and misery party.

Why would any coach take a job that requires a "couple of years" to get the cap situated? Other teams are ready now.The cap will be fine in a couple years and I don't think it's near as big an issue to coaches as it is to fans arguing on the internet.
Zero pro bowls amongst them all. Bresee in particular has been awful this year. The roster is aging, but we do have some good young players in Fuaga, Olave, Shaheed, Breese, Taylor, Kool-Aid, and maybe Penning and Rattler. Miller even looked good on Thursday.
