Bill Barnwell Explains Why the Jaguars are the best landing spot for Marshon Lattimore (3 Viewers)

More connect the unconnected dots speculation, thanks for that Bill.

I know you're just reporting it, DB, so don't get too feisty.

He's missed 50% of his starts the last 2 seasons. I like Latt when he is on the field, but he costs a lot of money for someone only playing 50% of the games.

there's that and the fact that the team allowed fewer points in the games he missed than the ones he played. Still, I don't think his impact can be fully quantified based on that stat alone. I do think they are a better defense with him than without

I agree, I was just answering the questions that were asked. I would prefer to keep him over getting a 3rd rounder for him, and the Market value in a trade for him would be a 3rd or 4th.

Why does everyone want to trade Lattimore?
Nobody wants to see him traded but the writings is kinda on the wall for his case. You don't draft arguably one of the best CB in the draft to let him sit.

I want a 1st or two 2nds. I know it's not going to happen so I wouldn't trade him. When asked about it Mickey said something about maybe you get a deal you can't pass up. If it's a 3rd or a 4th or even a 3rd and 4th for Lattimore, you can pass that up.

Yeah you do. The smart team succession plan is draft the rookie the season before they're needed. Then they get their feet under them in their rookie year and you have leverage when your high priced vet comes up for renewal/restructure.

Check which DBs are in a contract year and there's your clue...

His market value is akin to what the Rams got for Jalen Ramsey, about a 3rd round pick. Since Latt has greater history of injuries than Ramsey had when he got traded, it may even be a 4th rounder.

That's what the market is.

So when we trade him for a 4th that can conditionally be upgraded to a third, Loomis did't get "fleeced," that's what Latt's trade market is.

I guess my point of view is if that is the market, you stay out of the market and hope the market gets better when a contender has CB injuries before the trade deadline. Unless Lattimore becomes a locker room problem or demands a trade, we don't have to trade him this year.

I don't think we ever really got fleeced in recent trades.

Chauncey netted us a 5th for a player we were going to cut and then got cut by the Eagles.

The 2022 trade got us 2 first round picks and cost us the 1st next year and a 2nd in 2024 - that's the price of business and who knew it would be a top 10?

The Sean Payton pick was good for us considering it would have been nothing the next year. So getting a first was great!

What trades have we gotten the shaft on?

The trades haven't been the issue. The issue has been how we used the picks we got.
