Bill Vinovich has not officiated a Saints game since the NFC playoff game against the Rams. Is that just a coincidence or on purpose? In my opinion on purpose. That to me speaks volumes as to what the NFL felt about his officiating in that game.

If he not assigned this year you definitely cant help but speculate. Thatll be a span of 49 regular season games and 3 playoff ones.

He officiated the Super Bowl last year I believe. Not that the Saints were in it, but the NFL seems ok with him.

This is of course correct. BV did EXACTLY as directed - helping to motivate the apathetic L.A. crowd to fill its $1B stadium.

Same reason the league gave Goodell a raise after all the stuff he did. They LIKE what he does.

The league just keeps BV from Saints games to minimize discussion of the travesty.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

No call just affirmed NFL is on par with pro 'rasslin. Guided outcomes when nece$$ary.
Yep. I was going to say back in its glory days wrasslin was actually enjoyable too. At least in wrasslin you expect outcomes to be fixed

As much as everyone rags on Vinovich, and I've done it plenty myself, the no-call was not on him. I've never seen a head ref call pass interference. The two refs on the sidelines, on the other hand, should be in jail. Especially the old guy, Cavaleto or whatever his name is, who waved off the black ref as he was reaching for his flag.

There are some plays that you see three or four flags come flying in. This should have been one of those.

Correct. That lame excuse he had of a “Bang Bang” play was the exact opposite of what the NFL has been trying to enforce with officiating. Clear and blatant contact. Roby did not look bad for the ball. Obvious PI. And the hit was pretty close to the neck/head area. He was the hired gun for the NFL. He did his job that he was asked to do. If the NFL actually cared or wanted to do something. They would’ve suspended him or fined him the maximum. I don’t think either happened. But hey, he got to officiate another SB. Pretty sure that was another nice bonus in his pocket
