Burn the Vich!!

I'm pretty sure it's just the NFL keeping him safe, almost a witness protection kind of thing. I'm sure it's on their minds that some unscrupulous souls in New Orleans just might make sure he disappeared if he came to the city, so they aren't going to to assign him to a game there; and they might even be worried there'd be visiting Saints fans in another city who might try to find a way to exact revenge.

For Bill's sake, for the NFL's sake, and for our sake, he and whoever that crew was that day should never officiate a Saints game ever again.

I'm surprised that he's not assigned to us against the Patriots. Would be the most Goodell thing to do.

I have a friend who is an NFL official. I saw him that offseason and asked him about the call. Normally a VERY mild mannered guy he immediately went hostile and belligerent on me. Very defensive. It was a weird encounter. Something was said to all officials after that call And no he was not one of the officials on that game

The Bill Vinovich crew screwed up royally and every Saints fan has a right to be thoroughly disgusted with how a group of highly graded officials could fail so miserably. Confusing league rules have made it nearly impossible to be a competent referee these days. In many cases you can actually see officials make stupid calls because they are afraid of making the 'wrong' call on the field; preferring to let instant replay settle the matter.

You can watch any NFL game on any given Sunday and see poor officiating throughout the game. And what I mentioned above is just one of the reasons for it. However, for anyone to infer that a game is 'fixed' by the league prior to the game because 'all the calls went against my team' is simply whining by all those who fall for all these conspiracy theories.

This is not a good look for adult sports fans. And this kind of stuff can't be enhancing the enjoyment of the game for those who persist in this paranoia. Mistakes by human officials is part of the game. Try to learn to live with the flaws that are a part of all competitive sports. You'll be happier in the end.

[P.S.- Save yourself some time typing about how naïve I am for my conclusion. I have just as much of a right to believe that this league is legit as any of you have that this sport is a biased hoax. This is an opinion board. So once again, I am simply expressing mine.]

No doubt. All I’m saying is that PI flags never come from the head ref. Every other ref on that side of the field should have thrown his.
Weren't all of the refs in the general vicinity of that play from CA? LA area? That's unforgiveable in my opinion. You have enough refs for the playoffs that you can make sure:

1. They are not from the area of either team
2. There is not a history of them pulling for either team

I believe that Bill Vinovich will likely never ref a Saints game in the future because the gameday storyline would be about the blown call and what may have been... and not about the on-field battle of the game to be played that day.

The NFL wants to hide their warts... not expose them and let the media and fervent fans pick at them until they bleed.
