Bought my first legal weed (20 Viewers)

Hit me up next time you have to go to Linthicum and we can grab a beer. It's an easy drive for me to get there.
That will beat the crap out of sitting in traffic. Next one will be in the fall sometime. I will definitely take you up on the offer!

I am not sure having 2 dispensaries within 10 minutes makes up for living in NJ to make Life Good, but I will take your word for it.

That said, I will be happy when cannabis is legal federally and even more happy if they include Home Grow. Doubtful they include home-grow though, because big pharma is already losing out and politicians/lobbyist want to insure cannabis is monetized so they get their share of the profits.

I can't imagine paying $50 an eighth for bud when I could take that same $50 and grow an entire plant producing 8 oz instead of an 1/8th oz.
Everywhere including NJ that I am aware of it being legal it's also legal to home grow.

Recreational will be on the ballot in Florida in 2024 but it does not include home grow. The main backer of the bill is the largest medical dispensary here and the way the bill is designed the recreational users will be buying from dispensaries that are currently only medical.

It usually does come down to a "Follow the Money" thing and if the big dispensaries are p aying off the politicians, you can be assured that Home Grow will not be included. Home Grow is such a small percentage of overall usage, that 90+% will still go to their local dispensary on the corner and buy whatever over-priced mid-grade bud they have. They will pick the one with the highest THC value listed, they have no clue where the number came from or how easily those THC tests are to skew, but that number is bigger, so that bud is better. They will be happy with their choice, because they don't know any better and I am happy for them being able to find their medicine/drug of choice easily and accessibly. The taxes they spend on this over-priced stuff is how we will get the politicians to legalize cannabis in the first place, because again, "Follow the Money". There has to be some form of financial incentive for the politicians to do their jobs and pass legislation that will actually help people.

Poor folks that can't afford the $50+ 1/8ths should be able buy a seed and some soil and produce their own medicine in their own home. People who want to experience different flavors and effects should be able to plant different seeds and see which plants produce what they want. Rasta Jeff from Irie Genetics describes cannabis like fireworks. The THC amount is how high up the fireworks go up before exploding and the terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids are the pretty colors as they explode out and create the beautiful displays in the sky. You can always consume more to get the fireworks up higher, but if you are missing the rest you will miss out on the pretty colors.

Most states that allow home grow followed the general language from Oregon. There are some key words to look for.

Oregon allows up to 6 "mature" plants per 21 and over adult. On a medical card, you can "give" your plants to a caregiver who can grow them for you. A care giver can have up to 18 "friends" or 108 "mature" plants.

The key word here is mature.

When I consulted in the cannabis industry, I told my smaller clients looking to get started that you can use this to propagate a whole farm perfectly legally. Mature is flowering. So as long as only 6 per person are flowering at the same time you are safe. You could have 1000 clones that are in the prop or veg state with no issue.

So for home farmers, no matter the amount of plants you can have, that mature word is what matters. If it is there, you can grow as much as you want and just do it in stages, so you are always flowering 6 plants, but only 6.

Then find you an oil maker and have them press it for you.

Will you come hang out in Maryland for a bit? :hihi:

I would be happy to consult from a distance.... free of charge of course - that goes for all my SR family.

I actually come to DC fairly frequently (once a quarter maybe) so I could check on your quality.

Here is a pic from a friend of mine's flowering room (when he was a caregiver in 2017). He is a freaking artist. He grows commercially now on OR and consults to farms in NY and MA.

His set up is not expensive or sophisticated on any level.

Damn. I have my medical card here in Florida and I generally pay $20 or less per 8th and can get distillate cartridges for $30 or less. The live rosin/resin carts are where it's at though.
La system is still maturing. I haven't kept up, but think only 2 grow operations were authorized. Additionally, BR only has 1 dispensary for the entire metro area. I recall hearing Fla can now sell from 7-11's.

Until there's more competition the price isn't coming down much. Although, I seem to recall BR has 20$ \ 1/8oz from the MJ poll thread. Back when I smoked, 20$ might get you a 1/4 of unknown quality with uncertain additives. I'd pay double 35 years later for tested and known content.

Nice flower room. He needs to put some ping-pong balls on top of those bamboo stakes; 50 ping pong balls for $10 is a lot cheaper than losing an eye!!

His garden now is 12k sq ft and it makes close to $2.5MM. Medaled in a bunch of Dope Cups.

That photo was from 2017 - no eye injuries to report of.

But just like beer, I can design and build the system but I don't do the craft itself. I don't have the patience.
