Bought my first legal weed (11 Viewers)

Recreational will be on the ballot in Florida in 2024 but it does not include home grow. The main backer of the bill is the largest medical dispensary here and the way the bill is designed the recreational users will be buying from dispensaries that are currently only medical.
Aside from the ban on home-grow, that doesn't sound too uncommon. When legalization first started here in NJ, they first opened up the already-established medical dispensaries to adult-use then expanded from there.

Yeah, when they first started the medical program here you couldn't even buy actual flower.. you could buy overpriced "flower cups" designed for vaping and break them open but it took a couple of years for actual flower to be part of the program.

I tried weed once but I didn't like it at all. I don't find anything relaxing in it.
How long ago? Weed is now like beer, you can find something to suit your taste from Natty Light to Belgian Trippel. If weed is legal in your state you can go to a dispensary, tell them what you're trying to accomplish from pain relief to anti-anxiety/depression and get a strain that might help.

Ive never been into weed, like many people i tried it a couple times in my teens and early 20s, but never really did anything for me.. also my father’s been a pothead all my life, and since we tend to often rebel against what our parents do- it was another reason for me to stay away from it …. BUT.. weed recently became legal here in Thailand (circa 2 or 3 yrs ago) and i am always on the lookout for sleep supplements since im a lifelong insomniac.. the supplements i swear by are Unisom SleepTabs (doxycylamine succinate) which i get over the counter and is available here in the Land of Smiles ; it’s an antihistamine like Benadryl but slightly stronger.. but the other supplement i swear by is an herbal mix i purchase on Amazon and would be super expensive to get shipped here so ive been looking for alternatives.. i found a similar supplement here in Bangkok which works pretty well and has some of the same ingredients - melatonin (which alone does nothing for me) , ashwaganda, passionflower, L theanine, hops, magnesium and others.. but at the pharmacy here I noticed they had some CBD gummies, specifically formulated for sleep, that were around the same price as the other supplement .. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but i will probably try them in the next month or two once i run out of the first supplement .. the good news is that employment drug testing isn’t a thing here, so even if some CBD gummies have traces of THC as they apparently do, im not sweating it .

I think largely it’d depend on strain. There’s a lot to choose from, and it’d worth talking to someone who knows their stuff at a dispensary (if it’s legal near you). I wrote it off for awhile after smoking blunts with friends in HS but have found a lot of versatile options in my 30s.

We have a few in states all around us. I am more partial to the gummies. They help my wife and I wind down and sleep extra well if it’s a really stressful day (she is much more sensitive to it so she only gets half of one lol).

I have a medical referral for pain - one of the biggest surprises was how much it's helped my sleep, which in turn has helped my overall mood so much. Gummies can be hit or miss though, so don't totally write it off as an option if what you have doesn't work (but I do hope it helps)

The edibles are inconsistent with me. I've had times where I have some before bed, never feel anything, and wake up high as hell. First time that happened I had no idea why I was feeling so strange...didn't figure it out until I saw a McDonald's on the way to work and felt like breakfast would be a religious experience

An ex friend of mine was trying to self medicate his anxiety with weed and ended up having a full blown psychotic episode that landed him in an emergency psychological ward.

It isn't completely harmless. We now have a good bit of research that shows a percentage of the population is capable of having really bad psychological reactions to the more potent modern stuff. And also that adolescents should not be using it at all as it very much forks with brain development.

I've always supported it being legalized and still do, but the amount of research we've had since it became more accessible shows it isn't the harmless miracle cure so many like to pretend it is.

My state is in the (non) stone(d) age and doesn't allow for use. We live close enough to the IL border to get it from there (and absorb the inflated taxes), though. I smoked daily from about 15-30, even 'funded' my college because I knew a very good local farmer. I loved the stuff and usually I had the best of the best. Then later in my 20s I noticed it started making me very paranoid and I wasn't enjoying it at all anymore. About a 2 years ago --after not touching the stuff for well over a decade I began to get curious again--knowing that dispensaries really improved the science and had knowledgeable folks. I felt like the pandemic made me too reliant on alcohol (and just the general culture is such in WI to begin with)... it's been wonderful to enjoy a nice bake again. It helps me relax and esp with sleep. I don't do it daily, but about 3x a week or so.

Lol, I did that with... another chemical. That was weird.
