Brandon Cooks - RUMOR (1 Viewer)

Just was told the Saints have made calls about Cooks. I’m sure they’ve made calls on a couple of WR’s but Cooks is intriguing as a complement to a heathy Mike Thomas. As always, take it for what it’s worth. Strictly a rumor.
Rather Fuller, but whatever.

I don’t want to dive into your fantasies about my tongue, I just wanted to know what specifically makes Thomas a diva. You answered with what you answered with. My interactions with other board members are mostly positive. I have no problem pointing out double standards and hypocrisy that some posters use with certain players.
Well I must say, Thomas CAN lead some into thinking he is a diva, considering how he handled one of his teammate’s badgering.

Cooks salary cap number for this season is $16Million.

What in his history makes you think he will be happy sharing looks with CGM?

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

We do NOT need an EXPENSPENSIVE "feed me first" mindset on the team.

I get that we need WR help, but there was a reason that SMART & WINNING front offices (New Orleans, New England, Los Angeles) have traded this guy away despite his obvious skill set.

Money is not my issue. Bring him in and let Loomis figure it out.
Saints have pretty much maxed out their available restructures. There is no more "figuring it out' after that. All significant contracts have been restructured.

The Texans are in dire need of talent, but they are willing to trade him away (just like the rams, pats, and saints before them)

That doesn't raise any red flags for you guys?!?!?

No. The Patriots needed WRs when they traded him away. He got 1000+ the next year. Teams make decisions for different reasons.

I'm not looking to marry the dude. I just want an above average WR next year so we don't have to rely on Michael Thomas alone and a bunch of UDFAs. If you can't retain him after next year and it costs us a 5th round pick, who cares?

I can’t speak to the other teams - but the Texans are not in a position to contend for a while, so they are stockpiling picks and trying to get max value for anyone on their roster who can command a trade.

I think it says more that he’s got value and the Texans want to get that value converted into future picks rather than waste it on a massive rebuild as a player.

FA WR still available (that we dont have to trade for):

Julio Jones
Jarvis Landry
Will Fuller
Jamison Crowder
TY Hilton
Cole Beasley
AJ Green
Emmanuel Sanders
Keelan Cole
Sammy Watkins
OBJ
Dede Westbrook
Damiere Byrd
Marquez Valdez Scantling
Few more great prospects that didn't get any PT cause they were buried on depth charts too.

We don't need an expensive me first prima donna with concussion issues.

Jamison Crowder signed with the Bills at 4M for 1yr. I wish we would have made that offer. It would give us a solid slot WR.

And y'all are mad because he complained after a game where he didn't get a single TARGET...not reception. He was still on his rookie deal...if he didn't say something that could've became his norm where we just used him to run clearouts and not get any targets. Then what? He's negotiating for his follow up deal and we come back and say "well, you haven't caught a ball in so-and-so games" here's our low arse offer. Dude spoke up, got paid....because at the end of the day, its a business.

Colston for all the love we gave him, never said anything, got a middling payday and phased out when we didn't need him anymore...no WR wants to really have that career.

Robert Woods was traded for a 6th round pick and has 4 years left on his contract. Had an ACL injury last year.

Brandin Cooks has 1 year left on his contract and I would say is marginally better than Robert Woods, but with a massive red flag because of concussions. We need a receiver, Texans need picks. Offer a 6th, settle on a 5th if necessary. He would be a massive upgrade at WR #2 for the Saints.

His 2012 contract was a 5 year $40 Million dollar contract with a $10M signing bonus and $17M guaranteed.

That is a great WR contract even by todays standards.

I think fighting would be the opposite of diva. Ceedy is over it, why can’t some fans be?

it ended up being 5/36...and like the article said...it's a reasonable, aka okay, contract. Cooks wasn't looking for an okay contract...and he ended up getting a 5/80. Guess open mouths get fed

Laviska Shenault in addition to Brandon Cooks could be traded

Article: "The Jaguars added Zay Jones, Christian Kirk, and Evan Engram on offense as pass-catchers in a massive spending spree. The problem is, both Marvin Jones and Laviska Shenault Jr. are on the roster..."

And from the above list of Summer 2022 Free Agents, there are some "great names" but from this list, who is not recovering from injury and perhaps ready to join OTA's ?
