According to Nick Underhill of the NO Advocate, Saints have place Brandon Cooks on season ending IR. Perfect!!

I was coming here to post this... got this on my fantasy lineup (ESPN). Feel bad for the kid.

The Saints placed Cooks (thumb) on injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN's Field Yates reports.

Cooks could have returned to the Saints in late December, but Tuesday's decision means he will not play again this season. He will finish his injury-shortened rookie season with 53 receptions for 550 yards, seven rushes for 73 yards, and four touchdowns. He was a big part of the Saints' offense right out of the gate, and figures to again be a key contributor when he returns to action in 2015.

Geez, It really does feel like we're just giving up this season.

That pretty much says we've given in right? No reason to IR him if we thought he'd be back for a playoff run.

I'm guessing the thought process is either:

1. It's a 6 game season, if we make the playoffs we will probably be playing better ball without him

or

2. Payton don't want agents tweeting about player injuries.

This was the feeling I had.



Man there are a ton of passrushers in this Draft and a lot of FA guys that can come in and make an impact. I don't normally do this this early but I am ready for the off-season because this one was a wash.


I admit I was excited about all the pick ups but they just didn't pan out.


Needed an elite safety went and got Byrd
Needed a Veteran Corner, went and got Bailey
Needed to get better at RunBlocking went and got Goody
Needed a passrusher to complement Galette, tried to nurse Victor Butler back to health.
Wanted more safeties for the 3-4 safety look, signed Ball and Drafted Sunseri
Needed a big Play WR traded up for cooks.
Needed a Big Corner ...went with the biggest in SJB
Resigned a bunch of vets like Haralson,Bush,Humber to shore up the depth in other areas
Needed a ST's upgrade..drafted a bunch of ST's players later in the draft
Needed speed at LB - Drafted a nutcase from Cal


I mean it seemed like we addressed ALL of our weakness.


Then wham, Byrd gets injured. Sunseri gets injured, Bailey gets cut, SJB needs an entire redshirt year, Fortt went awol, Cooks got injured, Ball looks terrible in coverage,Victor Butler was unable to play a snap for us, Cam Jordan regressed (or the coverage regressed and he doesn't have the same amount of time)


I mean it was a complete offseason wash. Grant you we still had better off-seasons than our foes but we didn't hit on the guys we needed to hit on and it HURT.
