Brandon Cooks to IR [Merged] (3 Viewers)

It's that easy, huh? What if Vegas wants us to win the rest of our games, including the big money playoffs and Super Bowl?

Its the amount of money placed on each team. If $5mil is wagered on the Baltimore this Monday and only $1mil on Saints then saints easily win. But that information isnt given out. And with all those futures bet on Saints over 9.5 wins and SB odds, I dont think Vegas pays those out.

Now if we beat Baltimore, Pittsburgh is on a bye. Our win will be fresh in everybodys minds. They get 2 weeks to prepare for us. If I had to place a wager on that game right now, I would put my money on Pittsburgh and not be hesitant. Pittsburgh always gives us problems.

I seriously thought would win rookie of the year or at the least offensive rookie of the year. This sucks big time and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Whether your right or wrong, how can you even enjoy watching football with this mentality?

Looks like ever since Benson has become too old and frail to bust balls Payton and Loomis seem to feel that they no longer need to be held accountable for anything...like doing a piss poor job. Maybe Rita was on to something with those two.

Yeah Rita was really on to something that's why Benson made her stay away for a year and not leaving the Saints in her hands totally. Do you really think Benson stands over Loomis & Payton like their children telling them what to do so they won't do a piss poor job??

Not disagreeing at all that Pitt will pose a serious threat, but we've actually beaten them 2 out of the last 3 times. 2002 and 2010. They beat us by 7 points in 2006. Unless you're throwing in that Hall of Fame preseason game from 07 ;).

Yeah. We have given up. I refuse to invest anymore emotion into this team. Ill watch the games but I'm through screaming and cursing at the screen. If Payton had any hope of making the playoffs he wouldn't of done this. Sends a powerful message.

No other way to say it.....this sucks.

But given his broken thumb and wrist injury with just six games left in a disastrous season why risk rushing him back? Cooks has shown he the ability to be a great receiver for years for the Saints. With that IR makes complete sense. Let him heal completely and rehab to be ready for next year. We fans have been wondering where Joe Morgan and Nick Toon have been all season.....now we may find out.

Heal up, Brandin. We're all looking forward to you torching D's in 2015.

for a 4-6 week broken thumb?? Are we planning on NOT making the playoffs??
Gotta be careful with this injury and surgery. He's a first round pick in his first year and it's not worth jeopardizing his career long term. As a receiver, his hands are his trade. If he rushes back after surgery and reinjures that thumb it can ruin his career long term.

It's crazy to me how quickly fans jump on theories like this.

I have low expectations for the Saints at this point, too, but not because I think the team has decided the season is a lost cause, and that putting Cooks on IR is some kind of clear message to that effect. I just don't think this year's team is that good, for whatever reason(s).

But it's inconceivable to me that Payton, with his team still sitting in a position to control their own destiny in an absurdly weak division, has decided to mail it in early anyway.

A broken thumb/wrist (whatever it ends up being when confirmed) isn't a small deal for a wide receiver. There are six games left and Cooks can't help the team now. It really doesn't seem much more complicated than that to me.

This isn't a team with the luxury of planning ahead to January. I'd think any decisions made at this point are made out of the urgency of needing to win now and often.

Because I learned years back that this isnt a game. Its a business. I wish I could enjoy the games like I used to but, the thing is I would be mad right now with the team losing. My whole week used to be miserable after a loss in those lean years and there was many. Every win was hope. Now I no longer get mad at a loss. I found it much better to actually make money wagering on this business and put money in my pocket than to be miserable. But after a win Im not nearly as excited as I used to be so in that regard, you are right. I dont enjoy it like you do anymore. I enjoy wagering on the games because win or lose, at the end of the year I have extra spending money. I do enjoy watching the NFL though.

Brandin is spelled with an "I". Spelled wrong all over the board, some fans we have...

This is just to clear a roster spot for our playoff push.

Exact opposite of giving up, this is a positive move.
