N/S Bryce Young looking like biggest qb bust of all time (1 Viewer)

I am sure people will not like my post here. those who know me will understand that I am not a fan of thanking your team to get that first round draft pick. I do not know how important it is to have the next specially talented quarterback on your team. in other words teams are looking for the next Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, etc. there are those who believe that you must have this kind of talent to have any chance of going to the playoffs and a Super Bowl.

At the time the Panthers drafted Bryce Young, I saw many post on many different formula by fans who thought tanking your team was necessary to get that first round quarterback.

I think the Carolina Panthers made the decision to, make a deal Chicago Bears could not refuse to get their first round pick.

Last night during the Chicago Houston game, the announcers talked about how much the Chicago Bears gained from the draft picks, etc. that Caroline gave them.

Meanwhile, Carolina Panthers are losing with a quarterback that they drafted first round from Alabama. I’m sure they must’ve thought. How can you go wrong with a talented quarterback that played for Alabama?

It is my opinion that the Carolina Panthers administration is run by morons. And I think fans who believe that taking your team is necessary are morons. They are moron because they believe that a first round draft pick is a sure thing.

When I question Carolina fans about this, they are quick to say that yes you have to take your team. They will tell you that their administration just made the wrong choice of quarterback that they drafted.

Same night as Kyler Murray, who is going pretty well so far this season

Murray is in its 6th year... has had flashes, but he isn't tearing up the NFL... he hasn't broken 4000 yards passing (I guess the rushing complements that), has not played a full season in 3 years, and the Cardinals have a 33-51 record since 2019, had not won their division, with a single winning season and a single playoff appearance, which they lost.

Not even close. Jamarcus Russell
Yeah, as bad as Bryce Young has been thus far, nobody’s taking the crown from the king of the busters, Jamarcus Russell. That dude didnt even try. From everything ive seen & heard, i believe Young’s trying & making a legit effort to level up. He’s just getting his keister whooped on gamedays.

It doesnt help that he has one of, if not, the worst offensive rosters in the NFL. Its not even his size, the dude has C/D-level talent at the skill positions & a suspect O-line. Young went from a Bama program that was loaded w/talent, to a bum franchise lacking talent & an idiot owner who knows nothing about football.

I have a feeling that things might have been a tad bit different if Young still had CMac & DJ Moore at his disposal. But hey…not our problem.

i think Leaf was a worse bust than Russell. but more of a 1A and 1B type thing..lol

For me the thing that has Bryce Young even in the conversation is what the Panthers gave up to go get him. Off the top of my head I can't remember if the Chargers traded up for Leaf. I don't think the Raiders traded up for Russell. Maybe it should be two categories, biggest bust and biggest disastrous trade up for a bust.

If you draft a guy and he can't play then so be it. That's the price of poker. But when you trade multiple picks and players for a dude who can't play, that's worse. It can be crippling to a franchise. At least with a JaMarcus Russell the Raiders had the 4th overall pick the next season. Theoretically they could bounce back. The Panthers went full Leroy Jenkins:

  • WR D.J. Moore
  • 2023 first-round pick (No. 9 overall)
  • 2023 second-round pick (No. 61 overall)
  • 2024 first-round pick (No. 1 overall)
  • 2025 second-round pick

This is why he is worse. If you look at Russels game logs he had some good games. Plus he played in a more defense favored era
