Bucs game plan...Shut down (1 Viewer)

Running the ball may not be that easy.
The Bucs have the #1 rushing defense in the NFL.

If I'm not mistaken they did last year too. The Saints still put up 138 rushing yards in the second matchup.

Rushing yards is a really sketchy stat. Yards in general are really sketchy. They're not particularly indicative of how good a defense actually is.

Yep.

Sometimes a defense's rushing yards allowed is helped alot by their offense putting up alot of points and forcing teams to abandon the run. We've been doing that for years.

We definitely have to have more than just AK making plays. Curious to see if Ingram has any juice left. 2 back sets could be nice. Hopefully we can get these other receivers more involved, even if it’s just more short curl routes.

One thing I’ve noticed, we seem to run it on first down every time, whereas we used to always pass it on every first down with Brees. Maybe mix it up a little more. I don’t know. Just throwing stuff out there from my unprofessional perspective.

White has been a liability in coverage so I’d look for us to isolate him. There’s holes in their secondary. Front 7 is still vicious rushing the passer and stopping the run. It will be a tall task for our offense without finding rhythm in the quick, short and intermediate passing game thus far… and the Bucs offense speaks for itself so all around we realistically need to play our best game of the year to be in this one. It’s a measuring stick game

Yep. The TB run D IS very good! They’re first in run yards allowed n third in ypc. But they’re also first in attempts, with 127, or about only 18 a game. IMO, as long as the game stays close, we should run the ball.

I think havn Ingram back will help. I think he’s happy to b back here too! I think he’ll get about 10-15 touches, which will help take the load off of AK. I think if we run the ball 25-30 times, we got a chance!

On a side note, make sure u jus LISTEN to da Dome crowd when MI runs for a tough 5-6 yd carry, or when he runs for a first down!

But man, IF he scores a TD???!!!

😝😝😝

We need the defense to keep us close. White will be all over AK, time for Boom to make an impact for us. Hopefully he is ready to go.

The debate on how to judge a defense comes up from time to time. Some say points allowed is the truest measure. Others
say total yards allowed. The NFL uses total yards allowed when they rank defenses. They do it for a good reason.

Some of us old timers remember our 26-24 loss to the Rams in the final game of the 83 season. That loss prevented our
first winning season and playoff birth. Rams kicker Mike Lansford kicked the game winning FG as time expired. it was the
only offensive points the Rams scored in the game. 23 points came from 2 pick sixes,a punt return TD and a safety. The
defense wasn't the reason we lost. It was offense and special teams. The stats show 26 points allowed, but doesn't tell the
whole story. Total yards allowed show a more accurate picture.

Remember it well. It was heart breaking to be so close.

I think the Bucs blitz Jameis quite a bit to force bad decisions. CSP has to anticipate this and have short outlet(s) outside Kamara. Interestingly enough, they know Jameis as much or better than we know Jameis. I really want this win for Jameis.
